And LCW could have changed his mind and decided to save his tank here for the bigger Denmark after another disappointing outcome in Japan Open SS. It'll be pretty hard to bear a streak of failures at thrice successively against the Dan or Long.

Plus no Hawk-Eye, not on TV court, Lin Dan's current fitness condition, back-to-back tournament, the prospect of meeting Chen Long next round in the QFs.... My guess is LD probably sensed that Chen Long is in no mind to lose two SS tourneys in the early rounds as there's no guarantee he'd win the following DEN PSS in view of a possible semifinal clash with Lin Dan and risk losing ranking points. In other words, strategically speaking, while both LD and CL would much prefer not to meet each other in the early rounds but they still cannot overdo it, may backfire, the same goes for LCW I believe who unfortunately bungled it this time. Just saying, there are more than one factors to take into account, only the three archrivals know best what they are doing and why. The best of plans may go awry, as we know.

I can assure you, all three of them loathe to meet each other in the early rounds. Before Rio'16, they will try to avoid that as far as possible within limits. However, they may not mind the occasional encounter in the final or penultimate round to test each other out. Of course, we're speculating but I don't think we are far wrong, esp for LCW who has two nemeses now, not just one, not to mention a couple others who may spoil the party.

Not surprising as even Sun Yu knows LXR is vulnerable esp after her WC debacle. I hope Sun Yu is ambitious enough to aim for Rio since all three of her senior compatriots are shaky. Seize the opportunity, make the most of it, nothing to lose, everything to gain. Sun Yu, JiaYou !
