where do you plan to buy your racket? because if you buy it in thailand or somewhere in asia, $125 racket there can cost almost twice as much in NA

hmmm.... defensive player, and u need a racket 125 and under...
i say just save up money and get a really good one, like armortec 800de
if u cant wait, get a carbonex 30 muscle(even though the offensive is greater than defensive) still an all around racket, around $100 in san diego

Why not test run a Cab30MS. It's under your $125 USD budget. I presume your currency is USD since you leave in San Diego. 3UG4 version too :)

i agree. i'm not sure about the Cab 30 MS, cuz i never seen/played with one, but if you saved up a bit more money you can get an AT800DE. great defense, and more than decent offense.

if your budget is extremely inflexible, then i would probably go with the Cab 30 MS that others suggested.. because i have no idea myself :p

Personally, I won't use the $$$ as the scale to judge how well a racket can perform. It's all down to the player's preference.

I own 5 cab30ms myself, and I will say myself is much more a defensive type player rather than offensive. Ok, ok, my skill standard might be low, but still. :p

My suggestion: give cab30ms a try, by borrowing from friends, or get a demo from local shop. Then, make ur decision.

Looking at the "san diego badminton supply" I would suggest for you to look at:

    * Wilson ncode n5 ($79) (new model)
    * Wilson V8 (very good alround light racket..Hard to beat for the price ($50!!))

Both VERY good for their price!!

(The only yonex models I would reccomend at that site is +200 USD)

    other options to consider..

    * Prince More+85 (don't know the price in san diego though)
    * Carlton Powerblade tour (don't know the price in san diego though)
    * SOTX Ti-9 (don't know the price in san diego though)
also the new Victor ATB magan 6500 (or equivalent MMOA model), but I guess it would be tricky to find that one in US??

    Cheers,
    Twobeer

Sorry to go a little off topic but 6 days a week for 3 hours each day is a little too much. You need some rest and play like every other day. You won't get any better and your muscles will not grow.

yo, make sure u get high tension on that cab30ms, around 22+, if u go low tension on that thing, there was no point in buying it. and make sure u do your reasearch on that racket before u buy

What strings would you guys say is best suited for the cab30ms if you want more control of the bird?

And also, would you suggest ridged grips or smooth? I really find that my grip on the Cab30ms is rather lose and I don't seem to be holding it properly because I notice my flick of my wrists don't flick completely. It is rather I half-flick.

"better" is a subjective matter based on your own preference, ability, wallet, playing-style and strength :) .

Many of strong players here has praised the V8s playability (and been stunned by its low price).. The n5 is new, and the nano-technology should in theori make it stronger and lighter. It's also priced higher than the V8.. I should say that in general temrs n5 should be considered as a "better" racket.. but its individual preferences that count in the end!!

    cheers

well i dont play entirely for 3 hours a day 6 days a week, thats when i practice,, usually we run for 30 minutes and warm up for another 30 , and then play, but this week has all been running because our gym has been taken over by testing. >.<.
