The one in Jaipur is nearly complete.... There will be one in Lucknow soon.... Which covers SZ, NZ and CZ..... Both Guj Govt and WB Govts are pushing PG to grace their states with the WZ and EZ centres..... All zones will have centres by 2019 (according to the initial plan which is already running behind schedule... you can Google Gopichand Jaipur Academy or Gopichand Academy expansion for the links), but unfortunately there is only one PG..... The next step of evolution will only happen when he produces an assembly line of Gopichand class (or better) coaches, like he has successfully produced a clutch of Gopi class students....

Paitence is key.....

BTW Saina has opened an academy at NCR too.... I don't remember where, but its not in Delhi. Noida/Gurgaon/Ghaziabad

Its good that some sporting pygmies like Guj, WB and Raj are following the lead of small states (but sporting giants) like Haryana, Manipur, Kerala, and large Andhra (+T); but unless the BiMaRU states where more than 33% of our population live develop their non-cricketing infrastructure our Olympic Dream will remain a dream.

First thing to do is get Aryan a BAI Id no.
The format is given on the BAI site.
The parents will have to submit the municipal birth
certificate and also an affidavit on Rs. 50 stamp paper
(format of the affidavit also given on the site)
All the best to Aryan, hope he wins us an Olympic Medal.
The road is long and arduous, it takes minimum 10 years
of dedicated practice to become a champion.

Rankings ahead of world cup

Rankings dated 11.06.2015
Singles
Srikanth No.3
Kashyap No.10 Will get tough competition from Prannoy and others over the next year.

Saina No.2
Sindhu No.14

Doubles
Jwala/Ashwini No.15 If they maintain this for a year will get automatic Olympic seat.

These rankings are important for the World cup draw. Srikanth will be in same side of draw as Jan O and Saina and LXR are in same side. No.2 and 3 are drawn together. ;)

Here is the video of our promising junior , played in German Junior Open 2015.

Ansal Yadav - He was out of Junior Rank 150 @ that time while playing World No.2 Korean Seung Jae Seo. But he played really well. Unfortunate he lost it with the scoreline 23-21, 21-23 , 25-23.

Looking at the US GPG draw, JG/AP have a credible shot at winning. Hope the other flagbearers punch above their weight too.

Hopefully we will win all three titles we are still competing in at the US GPG. Both doubles have a real chance.

Fan123 Nice surprise to see 2 Doubles pairs in semis! On paper it looks straight forward but easy to trip. First step make the final. An unseeded Jap WD pair knocked out the No.3 seeded Jap pair. All Japanese pairs are dangerous, they have a solid doubles program. Don't forget the Chinese pairs. These are important victories in building confidence for the future.

On a side note more pairs need to be sent out for lower level tournaments. We also need to build 7-8 pairs XD, MD, and WD in every department. A top Doubles Coach will help us put in place a program from the grassroot, subjunior, junior, senior level to national team. Similarly we have a hole in WS, we need to have 7-8 like the MS. MS is the only healthy department for the short term. Then India can take on Japan, China and the world.
;)

Dream Final and fairytale performance by Manu/Sumeeth! Beating 2 seeded players in the same tournament is a credible achievement. They face a dangerous Chinese pair, odds are against India. They have the potential to win it. Staying calm under pressure, being relaxed and fearless badminton. Go India! :D

India Hiring Malaysian Doubles Coach

It is now confirmed, India hiring Malaysian Doubles Coach. BAI finally listens to reason, better late than never! :D Appointment has been sanctioned. Government paperwork will determine when he arrives (one or two months). His name is top secret though.
One clue “He is a top-level coach and has had stints with several teams including England”.
Will have to ask our Malaysian friends if they know. I am very happy and hope this sets India on a faster path to Doubles strong! :D

None other than Tan Kim Her.

He was a doubles specialist for Malaysia back in late 90's when Malaysian badminton was very strong in doubles. Also previous head coach of BAM - previous head coach of Malaysia. I can't think of anybody else but him.
