First round tournament witnessed some seeded shuttlers tumbled, the most striking defeat was Lin Dan and reigning world champion Carolina Marin who stunned by Sugiarto and Hashimoto respectively. Another elite names that ended their journey earlier, Chou Tien Chen (7th seed), Sung Ji Hyun (7th), Liu XL/Qiu ZH (7th), Kakiiwa/Maeda (4th).

For MS, we'll looking forward to watch several intriguing ties. INA has four representatives in last sixteen, excellent performance so far at homesoil. Top-seed Chen Long will meet tricky foe today, the tall Englishman Rajiv Ouseph while last year winner Jorgensen has local player Rumbaka as his opponent. Two dangerous veterans Lee HI and Hu Y will be challenged by promising youngsters, Christie and Momota respectively. Home hero Tommy Sugiarto who knocked out twice Olympic Champion Lin Dan will face his nemesis, the fighter Germany Marc Zweibler today.
    R/16 highlights :
    - Chen Long (CHN) v Rajiv Ouseph (ENG)
    - Son Wan Ho (KOR) v Kashyap Parupalli (IND)
    - Lee Hyun Il (KOR) v Jonatan Christie (INA)

First seed Li Xuerui was stretched to the limit by Scottish young talent Kirsty Gilmour yesterday and she gets Japanese rising star Akane Yamaguchi, a rematch of Sudirman Cup final. Japan and Thailand have guaranteed 1 quarterfinal ticket each through Busanan v Intanon and Hashimoto v Mitani respectively. Title contender Saina Nehwal has TPE hurdle, Hsu Ya Ching who ousted P.V. Sindhu suprisingly. Last week AUS Open runner-up, Wang SX once again is drawn to face Bae YJ at second round. Two local WS, Fanetri and Kusumastuti will try their best to go further in this Premier event.

Five home MD pairs, 1 ticket is secured through Fernaldi/Sukamuljo v Ahsan/Setiawan describing INA strength in this discipline. Top two seeds, Lee YD/Yoo SS and Boe/Mogensen are expected to pass this stage, another seeded pairs will have tough challenge today as the unseededs may spring upset.

Wow amazing. Just checked the bwf website and found out that Japan really have many good MD players. Wow they have 4 players ranked top 25. Amazing. Another 2 players ranked top 50. Wow never expect Japan to have so many good MD players. Wow all I can say is with a good coach like Park Joo Bong, Japan badminton has really improved a lot. Congratulations.

But what really surprises me yesterday was goh v shem / tan wee Kiong won against hirokatsu Hashimoto/ noriyasu Hirata 21-18, 21-13. To me that is really amazing. The Japanese MD are really the old, veteran experienced players playing together for so many years and ranked no 13 in the world. Goh v shem / tan wee Kiong on the other hand only played together in 10 tournaments together but last week their ranking is no 18. Wow I just cannot believe how they manage to improve in their world ranking so fast. With just 10 tournaments together ranking is already 18. Amazing. Then yesterday they surprised me by beating a highly ranked Japanese MD.

Wow this 2 MD players surely have a good future playing together. Congratulations. Truthfully I never expect them to win yesterday as I know Japan have many good MD players. Wow they really defy all the odds and won yesterday. I learn that ranking is no longer important but the performance at the court is more important.

Tough test awaiting goh v shem / tan wee Kiong vs Zhang nan / fu haifeng. We all know how great this china MD is with a high world ranking too. Tough match I predict for the Malaysians. Although both have only met once and at that time the Malaysia MD won the match last year, but the same cannot be said again this year. Lets see who will win this match this time. Of course in terms of skills and experience the china MD have the advantage. The match may go in favour of the china MD, and it is definitely tough for the Malaysian MD to win the match today. But who knows the Malaysia MD may just spring a surprise and win the match today.

Lee Hyun Il who is already 35 years old is facing a tough match today vs Jonathan Christie another good young MS. So who will win. Jonathan or lee? Well this remain a tough match. Jonathan may be young but he is good. His junior ranking is no 1 and believe he holds the advantage to win today playing in front of his home crowd who will be supporting him. Another exciting match of the day. Of course it will be good for lee Hyun Il to win this match but it is not going to be easy.

not sufficient rest maybe?? She just finished yesterday marathon match at 10 pm. I don't think 12 hours is enough for recovery.
