Hi I've recently lost weight, from about 15% body fat to 11% body fat. Of course I've lost some muscle mass too. How does this affect my game. Bad or Good?
From 15 to 11%??? That's quite a lot. It depends on how the weight is lost. By starvation or through slimming centres, you will feel very weak and lazy, like girls preparing for their prom night. IMO, healthy losing weight is by proper dieting and exercise. The weight will go down like 10% and plateau, lose fat and gain muscle mass. This of course does not happen to everyboy but it did for me. I've lost 10kg years ago but had since gained back 3kg due to my lack of discipline. I've tried starvation and fell sick for 3 weeks. I still need all the food for my basic body functions. One more thing, if the weight is coming down fast, something is wrong.
With scales that calculate the Body fat, muscle, water etc in your body as well as BMI. This is the one I own: http://www.uk.salterhousewares.com/catalogue/analyser-scales/mibody-analyser-bathrrom-scale.html Depends, when you lose weight through diet, you lose body fat first, then if you put on muscle then offcourse you gain weight but the overall result could be a loss. Muscle is also depleted by bad diet. Kindest regards, -Ajay- Quote of the Day Use soft words and hard arguments.
Scales using electrical impedance to measure body fat are only a very rough approximation. If you're dehydrated after a heavy session of exercise it'll measure too low. Most accurate is the water displacement method, but more difficult. http://www.livestrong.com/article/354465-the-water-displacement-test-for-body-fat/#page=1
From my experience these scales are pretty accurate, I know this as I had my measurements taken professionally at a Sports Science University lab to compare and the results were very close. I also take my readings at the same time each day when I do so its stable and ofcourse ensure I don't do straight after exercise or a heavy meal.
