...i'm pretty sure it's a towel grip too...and the case is normal...i have one like that with my mP55 from Malaysia...and most of my other friends have that kind of case too with their racquets from Asia...especially MP's and a few AT's...so....don't worry:)

im 99% sure its a towel grip.. wheres the 1%? it could be someone's bath towel cut-out :p <==highly unlikely, joking only ;)

i've never seen yonex rackets come in that kind of clear plastic bag though, otherwise everything else looks good :) my rackets from taiwan dont come with that kind of bag though.. its the normal kind

Hmm...when i was buying my cab30ms a few mths ago....the shop assistant did bring out a few cab30ms (all in the clear plastic bag of their own) for me to choose from. So i guess its perfectly fine dat yr mp99 comes in the clear plastic bag. :D n as for the suede bag....as mentioned already by Super~ME!, yes...its quite common in malaysia n singapore for the mid-upper end of MP n AT series depending which shops u bought from.;) maybe if u still want to check out authenticity of yr mp99...guess u have to post yr serial nos on top at the sticky thread.

all Yonex rackets comes in a clear plastic bag. and often you will see the opening end tied together with a rubberband.

if you don't see the bag when you bought the racket, that means the shop must have taken it out beforehand.

so what do i do, just remove the adhesive and apply it onto the existing grip? would you suggest i do that, and if i remove it, would it leave a sticky residue?

    thanks again

Well, that's a silly question. Lol. It's up to you, it's a towel grip, if you want to use it, use it. And of course it will leave a a bit of residue when you remove it...

Well it's pretty much common sense, take that pointy edge and place it on the bottom of your grip, and start wrapping it around your racquet. Trial and error since this is your first time..

    1. Pick up the racket with the head point left.
    2. Look at the butt cap.
    3. Think about the significance of the YY logo.
    4. Pick up the towel grip.
    5. Determine the side which has adhesive.
    6. Ponder why the adhesive is on that side.
    7. Ponder why the choice of red for the towel grip.

    ...

    116. Choose the end with the offset cut.
    117. Peel off the adhesive strip guard on the towel grip about an inch.

    ...

1002. Voila! Go out and play badminton.

    You're welcome.

p.s. it's real easy, don't worry about the adhesive, saran wrap the original grip before hand. If you mess up, you can always peel off the towel grip, and start over.

    LOL
Have a look at Kwun's acticle on gripping:
    http://www.badmintoncentral.com/badminton-central/content/view/41/33/
Usually you don't overlap when you grip towel grips (only when you grip synthetics), so ignore the overlap bit.

If you want to protect your original grip, then wrap it in saran wrap (as dave menioned), or cover it with masking tape.
