Thanks Paul, that makes a lot of sense. I like how you are working with your player to find the right balance for him.
Just a thought , with these extremely thinner gauge such as 62 and 60 which will break at mishit if strung to high tension ( 28-30 lbs) or perhaps hitting it as hard as MD or MS, do you think they have a scope in international level matches where a player will still fret even if he has say 15 rackets ?
A real 0.62 or 0.60 mm string? I don't think so. I think they will break too fast. Breaking several strings a match would be a problem, because they are likely to lose the rally when they break a string. But it seems that Zymax 62 and 62 Fire are not really 0.62 mm (see other threads where stringers have measured their diameter). It seems they are more like 0.66 or 0.67 mm.
Forget about the 60...not available for now. The 62F is rated to 30 lbs tension. And the diameter gauge is actually very similar to BG66UM... so durability should be similar. But I'm finding the 62F's BETA core is much stronger (and stiffer) than BG66UM.
Won't that just make bigger pixels? Unless you have 4K? Anyway, can't seem to capture picture of how it seems to the naked eye but bg80 is rougher, like 80 grit sandpaper, the fire and ultimate are smaller grain, like 120. Size wise 69 > 66=bg80 > 62=bg66u is how it looks. I'll seebif any pictures look like worth sharing.
my dealer ran out of Zymax 62 Fire, so I ended up buying 66 Fire... can't wait to cut the strings on my Apacs Sensuous 222 and finally try the 66 Fire. It's currently strung with a fleet 0.62 string that's lost it's feel and tension.
If i strung Zymax62 @21lbs for a plastic will I get a proper feeling when playing or it will be extremely difficult to play with plastic shuttles because of how mega-thin it is?
I might be getting a set or two from Dink to test. He assures me it's good to 33, and considering he's a quasi-hulk with 50+ pounds on me...
I'm pushing it to 30lbs in one players rackets, although this is used in a hybrid combination with 62 sitting in the crosses. Paul www.badminton-coach.co.uk
Well, what can I say? I tried some other thin, performance strings -- Yonex BG66UM, BG66 Force, and NBG98 -- and they felt soggy compared to my usual ZM62F. BG66UM was better than the other two, but still soggy. I guess it's the curse of becoming a stringer -- you know how good the racket feels with fresh strings, and you feel disappointed when it fades slightly. At the moment, I would take month-old ZM62F over fresh BG66UM. It's that good.
Gollum, I know you mentioned somewhere else that you find 62 and 62Fire to feel the same... But really, 62Fire is noticeably harder feel than 62's medium hard feel. I find 62Fire even close to BG80 in hard feel... which sometimes I don't like because of the excessive shock and vibration on hitting the shuttle with the Victor rackets I use which already provides good feel.
Jet speed S10 and zymax are such topics that even a slight discussion rings bell in visor ear. Lol
