HBJ missed an easy point at 20-19, luckily won the deuces 22-20 and conserves some energy. An unconvincing victory by HBJ, so young yet showing signs she has difficulty handling back-to-back tournaments; not in good form here.
IMHO HY made too many unforced errors. He didnt know what strategy to play and as a result was too nervous and fell to LHI s attacking game. HYs game is not good enough I am afraid and is too straightforOk. Back Today. When u back. You can use him and the car too straightforward
When Qiao Bin plays Boonsak Ponsana tomorrow , he had better use a bit more of his brains than brawn, for the wily veteran, just like LHI, is not going to give him too many opportunities to attack and score points by brute force.
Managed to watch the live matches at court 1 and 2 today. Ended up watching court 1 and 2 matches live together and at the same time switch on the live score to see the score for court 3. Well lots of exciting matches today. Managed to watch the exciting match of Li Junhui / Liu Yuchen vs Hoon Thien How / Lim Khim Wah today. It is really exciting. Thought that the China MD will win the match but what a surprise the Malaysian MD won the match instead. Well what a surprising result. Also managed to watch the match of Qiao Bin vs Mohd Arif. Well both of them played very well and there are lots of long rallies throughout the match. Both players refused to give up and continue to catch the shuttlecock non stop. Both players fell down so many times to retrieve the shuttlecock and the match is really exciting. As predicted Qiao Bin won the match but the score is not too bad. Congratulations to both the players who played so well today.
Managed to watch the match live of China and Chinese Taipei MD. Expected the China MD to win but never expect them to win with such big marginal score of 21-10, 21-8. Congratulations. The China MD really played very well today. Another match of WD won by the Japanese WD over Chinese Taipei 22-20, 21-16. Wow the Japanese WD really played very well to win this match.
Hoon/Lim did well to win their younger opponents Li/Liu. I wouldn't go as far to say it's an upset since they are well experienced and were once higher ranked with their former partners. But to be honest, I wasn't confident that they'll pull of a victory, kudos to them. Whereas for MAS' current top pair ; Tan/Goh bowed out to Kido/Putra which was indeed a shock to me despite Kido being once an OG champion. They blew off a 14-6 lead in the 1st set and did not manage to recover mentally and lost 2nd set with quite a large margin, effectively losing the match. Hope they'll get back on their toes soon and come back stronger for the Sudirman Cup .
Didn't go today... but will cover the whole semi final and final events tomorrow and Sunday. What do you guys want to see? A few of the cliché big jump smash action, the small details, emotion, drama, bloopers?
HBJ has been fooling around like TZY, with various fancy shots. When facing a stronger opponent, I assume that she will bear down to play longer rallies before going for the kill, like how she played Akane Yamaguchi at the Youth Olympics. It would also be a great test of Aya Ohori. We know that she has the looks. We shall see whether she got game.
SEMIFINALS (12.00pm, 2 courts) => http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/s...85B01B-43DF-4F43-AF62-EB96BFFE03CB&d=20150502 China has representatives in all categories, 1 final ticket for JPN through WD, Indonesia once again will rely on their doubles discipline to reach best result here. Hsu JH and Lee HI, possibly the winner of this tie will crown MS title on Sunday's final. Thai veteran Boonsak Ponsana will face Chinese player Qiao Bin who disappeared from international scene for quite long time last year. He BJ v Ohori, first time meeting in senior level as two players are coming from same batch. This interesting duel will be tough to predict, other semifinal tie HKG Cheung Ngan Yi is favoured to through into last round. Two INA MD pairs will be tested by MAS and CHN combos, Kido/Putra should be wary to CHN junior Huang KX/Zheng SW who stunned Adistia/Gunawan and outclassed TPE Lu CY/Tien TC whom eliminated another INA MD, Angriawan/Saputra at last sixteen. China scratch pair Xia H/Zhong QZ will face Dewi/Marissa and one of the resilient Japanese pair will waiting in finale. It's CHN v INA in XD category, top-seed Widianto/Dili will be tested by Bitburger Open winner Zheng SW/Chen QC while brother-sister Kido/Bernadeth gets China new partnership Yu XY/Xia H. LIVE TV (court 1) matches : 1) Markis Kido/Pia Zebadiah Bernadeth (INA) v Yu Xiaoyu/Xia Huan (CHN) 2) He Bingjiao (CHN) v Aya Ohori (JPN) 3) Boonsak Ponsana (THA) v Qiao Bin (CHN) 4) Xia Huan/Zhong Qianxin (CHN) v Komala Dewi/Vita Marissa (INA) 5) Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto (INA) v Hoon Thien How/Lim Kim Wah (MAS)
Both XD matches are INA vs CHN. Purely on merit, the other match should be on the TV Court. Argument can also be made for the other MS match. The organizer may prefer Bonsana on the TV Court for some reason. Look forward to seeing a good match between He BingJiao and Aya Ohori.
Luckily Ct2 livestream is available, only no close-ups http://livestream.com/bwfbadminton/gpgauckland2015court2
