IMHO, it is a fair sentence and probably the minimal sentence. which means that the panel believed Lee Chong Wei's explanation.

given that it is already end of April, it doesn't make sense for the sentence to be any less than 8 month. and giving him 8 months will symbolically says, "hey, we punished him already..."

And hopefully from now on, Lee Chong Wei, the team and esp the doctor (if he is not already fired) will be more careful, and that also applies to any other athletes.

Not sure whether the points for his World Championship will be erased after the official verdict. If yes, then he should not be the highest ranked Malaysian player by 30/4, overtaken by Chong Wei Feng and probably Zulfadli. Of course, BAM may still endorse the participation of LCW in World Championship.

His suspension will be lifted on 1 May 2015.

So can he enter Sudirman today then?

so the doctor is not to blame... it's the herbal lady who ground the cordyceps powder, put into gelatin capsules which were contaminated with dexamethasone?!

    This lawyer is amazing.

Basically, any athlete taking supplements is at risk for a positive drugs test.

The evidence for benefits of supplements is very weak.

Is it really worth the risk for a marginal benefit?

para 27 should have said "March 2015", and not "March 2014"...

there is so many typos and clerical errors in the decision that it is obviously made in a huge rush...

Something else quite interesting. He doesn't get the ranking points from the world champ last year, but he gets to keep the points earned after that.

In effect a blessing in disguise for Lee CW, eight months or one year or anything less, means his career and future ambitions are virtually intact. Good to have him back, not just for Malaysia.

Just curious, some minor doubts, one,how did the gelatin capsule casings containing the cordyseps which LCW has been consuming for about seven years from a private person get contaminated with dexamethasone and why dexamethasone? Two, dexamethasone was also used by LCW's stem cell therapist albeit in out-of-competition situations, isn't that quite a coincidence?
