I think the Adcocks have a good chance of a deep run this week. Very capable of reaching SF, they will likely play Lu/ Huang in QF. A match they can win, but will be difficult if Gabby flick serves Lu every time. Interested in 2 XD matches today, Xu/ Ma vs Praveen/ Susanto - The Chinese will be looking to avenge their shock defeat at AE Arends/ Piek vs Kim/ Shin - The Dutch pair have improved a lot over the last year and I expect them to push the Koreans very close today.
The rearrangement of first round matches, of course, does not apply to the present Singapore Open. They've been sensible and put most of the first round mixed matches on the first day.
Sorry no offense here. I am trying to be as fair as I could to all the players performance in the qualifying rounds. First of all payee Lim from Malaysia played in 3 different categories for the qualifying rounds. She played in ws, wd and mx. That means she played 6 matches in a row today. Wow how to win when you need to play 6 matches in a day? That is why it is difficult for her to win any matches today be it ws, wd or MX. Then considering that at least Malaysia players have one player in each category form the qualifying round that qualified to play in the first round. Then there are players who also played in md and MX and there are players who played in wd and MX. It is already considered good that one of the MX qualified to play in the first round because this person also played 4 matches today. Both players have to play in Md and MX / wd and MX. Fatigue creeps in. Not easy at all. And then there is also a match of Malaysian player vs another Malaysian player in the qualifying round itself do one will while the other one will lose. What to do this is the luck of the draw so nothing can be said.
That is the consequence to play more than one category. A player should have a priority when it comes to 6 matches in a day. Dont you think so?
A setback performance by Riky/Richi who was the runner-up last year, they lost to Korean youngster Choi Sol Kyu/Chae Yoo Jung, 15-21 / 19-21.
The qualification and twelve matches of XD first round are already finished. Nothing big surprise so far except minor upset that created by Korean Choi SK/Chae YJ to stun 7th seed Widianto/Dili. ROUND OF 32 order of play (09.00am local time, 4 courts) => http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/s...0297AC-79BF-4735-AA2E-FC458AFFA7DC&d=20150408 The main draw will kick off officially tomorrow where we're looking forward to good matches, started from this stage. Challenging test for some seeded players in opening round, the underdogs like Ueda, Ouseph are tough nut to crack and potential to surprise Axelsen and Vittinghus respectively. Other engaging ties that may lure badminton fans to follow : - Kento Momota (JPN) v Wei Nan (HKG) - Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk (THA) v Marc Zwiebler (GER) - Hu Yun (HKG) v Kenichi Tago (JPN) - Parupalli Kashyap (IND) v Lee Hyun Il (KOR) Strong favourites, Chen Long will start his journey against the resilient Lee Dong Keun while Jorgensen has no problem to overcome Indian qualifier Praneeth. And Indian leading man Srikanth Kidambi will oppose Vietnamese vast experienced player Nguyen TM. Saina Nehwal withdrawal should be capitalized by Tai TY, Intanon and defending champion Wang Yihan as frontrunners at top-half of draw to earn better result than last week disappointment. Two highest seeded from bottom half, Wang SX and Sung JH are predicted through to second round. Women's singles R/32 highlights : - Tai Tzu Ying (TPE) v Porntip Buranaprasertsuk (THA) - Busanan Ongbumrungpan (THA) v Akane Yamaguchi (JPN) - Nichaon Jindapon (THA) v Bae Yeon Ju (KOR) Three fierce first round encounters that may give seeded pairs run for their money, - Ivanov/Sozonov (RUS) v Astrup/Rasmussen (DEN) - Endo/Hayakawa (JPN) v Cai Y/Lu K (CHN) - Goh VS/Tan WK (MAS) v Ahsan/Setiawan (INA) Another interesting duel will pit local hope Chrisnanta/Triyachart against Korean duo Kim GJ/Kim SR. On paper, seems all eight WD seeded pairs will clear the first hurdle. Singaporean pair, former champion Shinta Mulia Sari who partnered with Vanessa Neo this time will face daunting task, none but second seed Kakiiwa/Maeda.
CLELY is, for sure, one of the most knowledgeable here. Anyhow different people could have totally different opinions and favorites even based on the same facts.
LOL. BSP is better than Kashyap and Prannoy. Watch out for this guy in the next 12-24 months. Will be a good match tomorrow. I on't expect an upset, but it won't be an walkover either.
I think B Sai Praneeth is not to be underestimated, he has had some good results in domestic tournaments i believe.
OK. Fair enough. Thanks for the information - I am sure most of us are not aware that domestic tournaments that B. Sai Praneeth has entered and won are of comparable standard to Super Series tournaments.
FWIW The betting has Jan at 1.083 (92.6%) vs Praneeth at 7.00 (14.2%) Jorgensen will be roughly a 14 point favourite going into the match.
Yes ofc JOJ is favourite, but the first time he was to face HS Prannoy I guess the betting stuff (I´m really not into betting) looked like this also. So my point is that anything can happen
I hope BSP reads this thread. Will charge him up. 12 months ago, no one gave KS a shot, not even Gopi. I know JOJ will win tomorrow, but won't be surprised if BSP manages to strech the match. His recent results have underwhelmed TBH, but you can't keep a good talent down forever. By law of averages, BSP will breakout before Dec. 2016. He is definitely not the pushover posters here are making him to be.
