Hi there, can someone advice me a knot for a shared hole grommet. I was taught to use a 'Pro Knot' which i believe is very secure. Unfortunately i see this knot goes through large grommet holes. Any advice? [IMG] i have seen kwun's video and i believe that knot size is same as pro knot

Add a half hitch knot over it :)

Parnell knot, but I try to avoid tying off on a shared hole.

Sorry, I thought the pro knot didn't have the second loop.

Yeah that's how I understand it. Parnell knot goes round the anchor string twice, Wilson/pro knot just once.

I used Parnells until very recently, but I don't think it's up to the kind of tensions I'm using these days. After some fiddling, I developed a "double Parnell" that's similar to the Toshi, and I'm happy with it so far.

Adding a half hitch on top of an existing knot doesn't reduce the tensions loss because it doesn't add any "sideways" bulk; it only makes the knot look as if it hasn't sunk into the grommet.

Hi Mark, you mention double Parnell knot, do you take the string thought both loops or just through the first loop?

^Both - I end up with two loops and a tail, like the Toshi.

The extra half hitch knot does help the whole knot stay out of the grommet. As for the tension loss, if you use a knot that reduces tension loss before your half hitch knot, then it isn't a problem.

I use for all 4 knots, as for a starting knot it sits pretty good when I pull tension. As for the pass it goes through both loops coming up, and around through both loops creating a 3rd loop. I stick my middle finger through the 2nd loop, pull on 3rd to make 1st loop sit, then release 2nd and pull on 3rd loop to make 2nd loop sit. Then I tighten 3rd pulling with fingers, using pliers as leverage.
