Was browsing a Korean website and saw Zymax 90 which is a 0.65mm gauge. Does anyone know if this is the same as our Zymax 65?
I just strung a racket with a Zymax 65 string i got from a local store, i got it really cheap so it wasnt a big deal. However, i feel that its really dull in sound even though its strung at 29/30.. Almost sounds like a BG80 at far lower tensions, i just read that there are different generations, also from what i can find on youtube vids, the texture of the one i have (white) is different and more slippery, judging from the sound when the rackets i strung. Is there someway i can see if the string i have is the first generation or the second generation of these strings?
DFid you bought it right of the reel or as a 10m set? Normally you can see it on the design of the package. Old one(1gen) looks white, new one(2gen) (black with red letters). I don't know if there was a period when the string didn't changed but only the package. But the design of the package is a good evidence.
It was a 200M reel.. I bought since it was cheap and i have heard good things about it here. I cannot see anything on it however, its simply a sticker, black background with red letters for the Zymax Part.. No serial number or anything.
That might be it, im not quite sure. Will try and grap a pack from somewhere else.. The old stock might explain the price, which was about €20 less than everywhere else i could find.
Been using the Zymax 65 red for the last few weeks: 1) Roughest string ever! Its like emery. But this means that spinning short serves and net shots become easier and sharper. I am surprised at being able to hit those shots with so much accuracy, though shifting to a stiffer racket probably accounts for some of it as well. Very good feel even when hitting off centre. 2) A good, loud, "thok" hitting sound when hitting the sweet spot. Nice metallic "ping" on the precision shots as well. 3) Good tension retention. I do a tone check by lightly tapping the string bed with another racket, and the tone hasn't changed yet. Strung at 23 lbs. My new favourite string!
If u like ZM65, wait till u try the new ZM66F... ime n imo, definitely a grade higher in every aspect... Another new string to try is ZM62F... two words: very nice... { ^.^}
Finally had a string break on one of my rackets... Just started playing again after shoulder surgery. I strung it with 66 Fire at 26 x 28lbs. Thanks to @DuckFeet for the sample! I heard it drops fairly much at first, then stabilises well after a few days? So I added 1lb. I normally use Zy65 at 25 x 27. Looking forward to testing it out 66 Fire, 26x28, after ~24hrs (time, not playing) pings at 1180hz 65 plain, 25x27 after ~'months' and ~ 12hrs playing is at 1060Hz.
Honestly, I don't find much difference tbh. I will say the fire sounds funny on slight miss-hits when the strings move. I thought I broke the strings several times on slight slices from off centre hits because of the way the strings 'cracked'/creaked.
My experience with Zymax strings is far from beeing intense, but IMO ZM62 is the only Zymax which I really like. Strung two identical rackets with Haribito in the past. 1st ZM62, 2nd BG80. Now the funny part: First 3 days(2 sessions means 6h) both were gorgeous. The next 3 days (2 sessions means 6h) BG80 was ok, Zm62 felt not good. The following sessions: BG80 felt less powerful and I cut it. ZM62 felt better and was stangely better than before. Tension: 29x31. Could it be that Zymax needs a break in period?
That was my first or second session with the string. It's only a week down the line (probably 4 hours of singles and 2 hours of drills) and I have some serious notching/fraying now. Given 66 fire is 20% more expensive than 65, I'll stick with 65!
Hi all, There's now a chance for UK based players to try all the gauges of the new Zymax Fire for a great price in this trial pack. There's a few added bonuses too! http://goode-sport.co.uk/buy/zymax-f...al-pack-offer/ Thanks!
Speaking of Fire, I ordered a spool of Zymax 62 Fire last week. I need to burn through my stock of Zymax62 faster. :3 I can't wait to try the new goodness.
I've found I prefer 62 and fire62 once broken in too. I wonder if prestretch while stringing will get that feeling right from the machine.
