badminton makes its way to ESPN for all the wrong reasons: http://espn.go.com/olympics/badmint...top-ranked-badminton-player-fails-doping-test
An eye for detail there, I see. Doubt that the physician is the team doctor. Most team doctors do not have that expertise. Hmm, being a team doctor or treating athletes is tougher than I realised. Approximately 30% of medical errors are medication related.
I think he would be a specialist who worked closely with the team doctor. The fee is most likely paid by BAM. So, it is hard to classify him as LCW personal physician either.
Khairy: Don’t compare Chong Wei to Ben Johnson or Lance Armstrong http://www.thestar.com.my/News/Nation/2014/11/08/Khairy-dont-compare-Chong-wei-to-cheats/ Put it this way, if LCW did actually take PEDs, he would've beaten LD for the gold in OG and WC all those years...
agree. Lance Armstrong not only systematically took all sorts of PEDs in order for him to win, he also force his team to do the same thing and then bully everyone who gets in his way from doing so.
Doubtful that very many troglodyte American football fans are going to trip across this article in ESPN. Even more doubtful that it would lower their estimation of badminton anymore than it already is.
I thought eagle posted an article saying it was a "private" hospital who administer the stem cell treatment. Is that right? Or was it the NSI people?? I can't remember..
Last badminton made it to the ESPN, it was also reported by the Wall Street Journal. And BadmintonCentral was overwhelmed.
+++ like. Things happen for a reason. It's not the end of the world. Now, the world knows what is badminton. Good for the sport.
so i went to the badminton section in espn.go.com . there are a grand total of 5 articles. 1 on LCW doping 1 on BWF changing scoring system 2 on Lee Yong Dae doping 1 on the Thai player brawling all negative stuff. http://espn.go.com/olympics/badminton/
KL Sports Medical Centre. This is where BAM players go to treat injuries. If not mistaken, Sonia Cheah had her Achilles heel surgery there. BUT...dunno if it is the same Dr Saw treating LCW. Dr Saw treated LCW in the 2012 injury, he's a pioneer of some sorts in the stem cell treatment.
Who is giving advise to LCW? I don't know what is there to gain to be adamant about his innocence, in the media. He is basically telling WADA and BWF that "I did everything right". Please just stick to "having no intention to cheat".
Can't be answered. There is something called sensitivity and specificity. Sounds like an easy question but it isn't. That is why you won't be able to find an easy answer.
Public Relations Is it right to say that much of LCW's endorsement/sponsorship contracts are now on hold. (I assume Yonex learned of everything within 24 hours of 1 Oct.) Will LCW will be short of cash for the next few months? He needs to manage the public relation extremely delicately. I hope he has good PR consultants advising him personally.
KLSMC is indeed a "private" hospital, a specialist in stem cell therapy for sports injuries. Let's wait and see who else is involved in the stem cell therapy. http://klsmc.com/en/stem-cell-therapy/about-stem-cells/ NSI of Malaysia has a sports medicine division it seems. Interesting. http://www.isn.gov.my/index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&layout=item&id=53&Itemid=421&lang=en
I don't think money is a problem for LCW. A couple of internet sites estimate his net worth at between 45-59 Million USD: http://www.sportrichlist.com/badminton/lee-chong-wei-net-worth/ It will be interesting to see what happens regarding his endorsements and sponsorships. Other sponsors have dropped their sponsorships like hot potatoes when one of their sponsored athletes test positive for drugs or have problems with the law.
it really depends. seems that the Malaysian public has a lot of sympathy for LCW. and most believe that he did not intend to use PED. the sponsors can either drop him like hot potatoe, or play the sympathy card and publicly stand behind LCW. that may even be good PR.
