I'm honestly quite surprised at the statement by Khairy Jamaluddin, Malaysia's Sports Minister: ""Athletes cannot blame the coaches or medical specialists but themselves. We take this matter seriously... We have zero tolerance for athletes involved in doping," he said, according to Bernama." http://sports.ndtv.com/badminton/ne...tar-lee-chong-wei-fails-dope-test-say-reports Is he pre-empting a fallout from some privileged information that he's privy to?
interesting. that's the sentence quoted by the media, i wonder what the context is that prompts him to say that.
Just feeling a bit uneasy with your statement. I understand what you are saying, however, in the context of what have been posted/published here by so many people on a very sensitive issue, isn't this a bit hypocritical? Allowing members to post about LCW when it was not certain the athlete was him is pretty sensitive in my mind. Maybe the whole thread should be wiped out?
it depends on the level of groundless accusations. you didn't see the deleted posts that i was refering to, in which the user tried to tie in the article that you saw (and deleted) and further accusations that just bursted out of the blue. as for the current situation, it is no longer something groundless as pretty much all media have concluded with circumstantial evidence that the athlete involved is Lee Chong Wei.
Hahahahah.....if he does i would just take straight away some bunch of stimulant since visor will for sure approve my TUE application.
Yesterday the French newspaper echoes LCW's doping case. It is the first time I ever saw an article on badminton in the newspapers of that country. It does not give a good name for badminton. But the reactions of the people, on the articles I saw, is "what's new?". So many sports are into that now.
You mean 30 days before the tournament If it's a random test, there's no way to know what's the 30-day mark
So, was a TUE application supposed to have been sent? And... Did the association send in the TUE application or not? In time or not?
And that is a very good question. Much like LYD's case of his association not filing his whereabouts.
hahhh...no need to file it my friend, I'll just meet him outside in any coffee shop, buy him few tubes of expensive shuttlecock and my TUE is approved without going to the toilet! Once done, to avoid from being on the watch list, I'll do some facial reconstruction, make my self look like some Bangladesh workers who just finished a course of 1 month of Dexa treatment and i can compete already. hahahaha
Just to add, definitely there are gray areas and it takes a judgement call at the time. Ordinary forum posters play their part in reporting posts which go beyond thresholds.
So, if we make a hypothesis that the worst-case scenario is actually true, "they" could use the TUE registration cock-up as an "excuse" for the entire "misunderstanding" and use the LYD case as a precedent to plead their case?
Depends on the substance detected, really. I don't know the complete list, but something like EPO or steroids is a major no-no... whereas cold medicine or asthma inhalers for example is a minor no-no, which could be exempted by the TUE application.
I think this is the list as issued by WADA for 2013 : http://sportsanddrugs.procon.org/sourcefiles/WADA-Prohibited-List-2013.pdf
