. It's been a long time since I last started a thread at BadmintonCentral for a BWF tournament. Although I won't be able to get there (unfortunately), I shall start this thread. Tournament: 2014 The Star Australian Badminton Open Category: Superseries Dates: 24 June to 29 June Venue: States Sports Centre, Sydney, Australia Total prize-money: US$750,000 Tournament website: http://www.bwfbadminton.org/tournamentcalendar_event.aspx?id=18140 Schedule/Results: http://bwf.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/matches.aspx?id=5B76F387-F73A-4B14-BDEB-D5D59D6CB275 Sydney time: http://www.worldtimezone.com/time/wtzresult.php?CiID=1311&forma=12h Lin Dan quietly touches down in Sydney just a few hours ago: http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/en...uperstar-lin-dan/story-fni0cvc9-1226963030725 .
Hope to see what the first Super Series for Australia can offer . It should be the same as for all other Super Series tournaments held worldwide (I believe). BWF dictates the requirements required to hold these Super Series tournaments; and the tournament hosts are required to meet their BWF's standards. .

Our BC PAW Games is missing . Thanks CLELY. I have been rather busy lately. Thank you for posting to continue giving info about our BWF tournaments over the many months/years for our BC members. What I have a missed is our BC PAW Games organised by Sandy. I wonder when Sandy will be back. .
MS No.1 & 2 seeds - Jan O Jorgensen and Kenichi Tago have withdrawn. Source - http://www.badzine.net/news/australian-open-uperserie-debuts-with-casualties/30935/
Jan O Jorgensen, Kenichi Tago, Bellaetrix Manuputty, Minatsu Mitani, Sashina Vignes Waran, Hui Ern Ng/Hui Lin Ng, Vivian Kah Mun Hoo/Khe Wei Woon have withdrawn.
Me too, big possible our PAW organizer is very busy. It's understandable, really hard to play three weeks in a row for singles players. In main draw, some players get free R/16 ticket due to withdrawals and no reserve player to replace that vacant position. Qualification round will be started tomorrow (10.00am local time) => https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/...76F387-F73A-4B14-BDEB-D5D59D6CB275&d=20140624
Yes, indeed, it's difficult to play back-to-back tournaments and certainly gets tiring and stressful. With the latest withdrawals, the MS category is an open field now. We'll also see a repeat of the 'Thomas Cup final deciding match' when Daren Liew takes on Takuma Ueda in the first round.
Fatigue is finally taking its toll on those professional players. One should also remember that pro players are human as well. They are not super heroes or something.
Pictures update through AUS Badminton Open facebook : https://www.facebook.com/AusBadOpen Four MS qualifiers : Oon Hoe Keat (AUS), Mohamad Arif Abdul Latif (MAS), Riichi Takeshita (JPN), Chiang Jiann Shiarng (MAS). INA back up player Wisnu Yuli who reached R/16 last week failed to enter main draw here, lost tamely to Takeshita, 11-21 / 6-21.
Saina vs Sun Yu - eager to watch this match but will have to stick to live score due to not being scheduled on either of the TV courts.
ROUND OF 32 (09.00am local time, 5 courts) => http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/s...76F387-F73A-4B14-BDEB-D5D59D6CB275&d=20140625 Interesting first round matches to follow : - Liew D (MAS) v Ueda (JPN), Thomas Cup Final decider rematch - Son WH (KOR) v Axelsen (DEN) - HK Vittinghus (DEN) v Momota (JPN) - Tai TY (TPE) v Yamaguchi (JPN) - Busanan (THA) v Sung JH (KOR) - Nehwal (IND) v Sun Y (CHN) - Fischer/Pedersen (DEN) v Fuchs/Michels (GER)
Congratulations to players able to qualify into the main draw . Congratulations to the mentioned players able to qualify into the main draw. . If our BC PAW Games were being played, I would have PAWed for; 1. Ueda (JPN) 2. Son WH (KOR) 3. HK Vittinghus (DEN) 4. Tai TY (TPE) 5. Busanan (THA) 6. Nehwal (IND) 7. Fischer/Pedersen (DEN) See how many of the seven, I can score correctly. .
