MAS should be happy because they now found 2 strong MD teams. TBH is motivated again, and Goh proves that he belongs to the elite group.

Congrats to japan for entering into the elite list of winners. Malaysia did their job to reach finals after defeating indonesia in the semifinals and has shown their potential again. But i am very much disappointed with Daren Liew. I don't know why he made so many unforced errors at the crucial period of the game. Takuma ueda played brilliantly on the other hand.. May be nerves which played the major role in the MS3 match yesterday. Who controlled the nerves better won the match.

Congratulations to all the podium finishers of the Thomas cup 2014.

    Indonesia, China, Malaysia and Japan.

Anybody have picures of medal ceremony ??

Perhaps Lim Khim Wah will now be a substitute until he improves on his serves?

Well, on top of that he might be able to find a more suitable partner to boost MAS's arsenal. :D

i don't think Malaysia 2 MD are world class yet, opponents just have not dissect their weaknesses yet.

if TBH can maintian this FIRE... TBH + GVS should be the one for rio2016

CHN will certainly be back but structural changes maybe required in the selection process and the training and coaching. For one there should be a focus on the juniors coming up the system. Momota was sent to Europe alone or with a few others and played in tournaments winning a few after his WJC triumph. These were not major competitions and winning gave him the experience and confidence as we saw. One doesnt have to focus on strategy for tournaments if you have a number of K Momotas in your team. Good players will take care of winning.

Another issue is to be brave enough to drop players who haven't perform. The present crop of young chinese players, ie mens singles are not performing. Just as in the football league you get dropped if you are not performing. If you dont do that the ones who are in the reserves will be put off.

China is also such a large country that I wonder how talented young players get selected, especially from the provinces. Do they have junior tournaments to do this? I can imagine its extremely difficult for this to happen if a young talent is spotted from Yunnan province for example.

Enough said, for the moment lets see how the 2014 world junior champion and his colleagues are groomed. Will they feature in the next TUC I wonder?

You are apparently the one who is daydreaming.

If only you had passed your English in primary school, you would have noticed that I started with the qualifier :

'' Had they been able to ..... ''

I, like most others here who have a far higher IQ than your 50 or so, are well aware of the rankings requirement, including why Lin Dan was placed in the third singles - we do not need an idiot to educate us on that.

Not only that, your rudeness and lack of respect towards others' posts, of which someone like you are in no position to make such derogatory attacks, plainly reflects your low level of upbringing, as well as your obvious youth and immaturity.

As for the doubles, I believe that they would have been allowed to make the switch, because both our pairs are actually ''scratch pairs'', neither one being ranked.

And if our doubles' lineup had indeed been swapped as mentioned. I am certain both of them would have won.

Don't bother to reply - I won't be reading it nor wasting further of my time bringing my level down arguing with a piece of trash.

    Agree. :D
In terms of talent pool, coaching staff, infrastructure, they have more advantages than many other countries out there.

I think you also need to include a University academic as having missed the implications of that first sentence. :)

But it's all rather speculative 'if' the order could have been changed because you are working on the assumption the opponents keep the same order of players.

I don't know how on earth anyone can say Chong played well. It's not even like Tago who you could see was trying against LCW but was just bettered. Chong just crumbled, plain and simple. Daren Liew showed good fight to crawl back and win the second game, but other than that his playing was so riddled with easy errors that you could only call it bad.

Aside from those who won their respective matches, Malaysia choked at this TC as far as I'm concerned.

What an amazing week! So much excitement!

So many new faces and new teams making their way into the limelight! So many teams took away so many positives from their participation.

Congratulations to all the winners, and all the podium finishers!

Japan was just incredible. A total team effort from beginning to end. Malaysia surprised and delighted their entire country and supporters all over the world with their gutsy performances, but in the end the TC was lifted by the team that played the most complete badminton all week.

And that is true of the UC as well. China were just too business-like and focussed to allow any other team a hope, and rightly deserving of their retention of the crown.

Congratulations to the organisers of this edition. It was a most enjoyable experience -paucity of crowds notwithstanding- and things went smoothly with no major hitches or setbacks. BAI, BWF, ESPN and all others involved in making this a success...

And finally, a big thank-you to Kwun for giving us a turbo-charged BC that allowed all of us to interact and have so much fun online with all our friends!

Yup, The badminton was more balanced, hence the great excitement.

Bold part : It would be more fun if the "like" function was working but thanks anyway.

I heard JPN declared a holiday yesterday after the win. Is it true?
