TBH, this is a very good/young Japanese team and they have a good chance to defend their title in 2 years time.
Amazing final, some of the best matches I have seen for ages. Japan deserves it and I can't wait to see what Momota can do in the future.
grats japan. worthy champion. after doing the hard work of disposing china in the semi, it will be a pity to fall at the last hurdle. kudos to malaysia too for giving us such a wonderful final.
Congratulations to Team Japan for their first Thomas Cup triumph! They have truly deserved it, after beating CHN 3-0 and then MAS 3-2 in an exciting Final (even for a non-JPN or MAS fan like me). It will be a Final to remember for quite some time. Too bad Team INA failed to beat MAS 2 days ago....but nevertheless, I still feel that Japan's 3 singles players are slightly better than INA's, especially with Tommy probably still not 100% fit.

Oh my god that was so tense... really glad Japan won as I think they had the right attitude the whole way through. I'm sad that one of these teams had to lose though... I hope Malaysia can stay proud considering how well they did.
Well deserved win for Japan. They have improved immensely in their badminton program. Only 4 years ago, Japan was at best a 2nd tier badminton power, never able to compete against China, Korea, Denmark, Indonesia, or Malaysia. Today, Japan is officially a 1st tier badminton power. The best thing that will come out of this win is that hopefully, more money from Japan will be poured into badminton tournaments and players. Hopefully, more Japanese will tune into badminton and pick it up as a sport. Their were rumors that the IOC wanted to kick badminton out of the Olympics after the scandal at the last Olympics. With this Thomas Cup win, I'm guessing Japan will join the list of countries that will push to keep badminton in the Olympics.
i think someone mentioned it is unfair to have the cup go down to the 3rd men's singles. that's just the way it is and the way life is so cruel. it tests the depth of the team as well as the nerve of the player. to be honest, both Ueda and Darren played beyond their ability. many of you wrote off DL much earlier and I thought u were right after the disastrous first game. but he came back possessed and took the 2nd game. both rose up to the occasion and gave us one of the best 3rd game of the 5th match of a Thomas Cup final in many years. But unfortunately, life is cruel and there is only one winner. Ueda played better and my god yet another baseline shot that was left *IN* in the last few crucial points. I am very happy to see Japan make history. And now my 6am bike ride will happen at 9am. good that the match already started the heart beating.
Congratulation to Japan, thought I like Malaysia to win but thumbs up to the Japanese routed to win the Thomas Cup. Though Malaysia had done better than what was expected but failed to win the Finals will be the biggest mishap given the opportunity that China was out. Now that Daren is on the microscope for the wrong reason and he better do well moving forward else his career will be cut shot as it's not easy for the country to forget his failure throughout the TC series.(He lost all this games in TC???) What a missed opportunity for Malaysia ... Once again, congratulation to Japan!
