I play approx 19 hours a week of singles and doubles , I sweat a lot at the palms, mine generally lasts 3 weeks till it loses all it's tackiness, currently using Wilson pro over grip yellow to match my z slash, and black yonex over grip ac102ex.
I have mixed feelings about the ac102ex. I have the yellow ones. Though they feel good and everything, my thumb and index finger gets the yellow pigment after every game. And they last that long - takes me about 8 hours then the grip gets holes on where my thumb rests when holding a neutral grip
My grips usually last me a week or sometimes when really lucky half a week more. I have really sweaty hands and hold the racket quite firm. Also due to a large hand size I use two overgrips to get the feel of the racket. Till now have used four brands in grips with similar results. Yonex AC140EX Dri - Black/Red - 1 Week Adidas Performance feel - Black/Green - 5 Days Wilson Pro - Dry - Black/Red - 9 Days Karakal X-Dri - Black - 6 Days Karakal X-Gel - Black/Blue - 11 Days Play daily, each session 3~4hrs.
Just watching the Asian games final ladies doubles. Greysi Polli changes her racquet in the second game 17-20 down. She indicated to the umpire her grip was too wet, hence the racquet change.
But sometimes that can be a delay tactic to take a breather, just like retying shoelaces. The umpire can reject toweling down but can't reject a racket change due to damp hands and handle.
Yeah, I've seen it before already. I've also seen some players change their rackets when they want to towel down their hands but are rejected by the umpire. Anyways not many secs as a delay tactic, but just the same as tying shoes and walking to the side to fling off sweat. Even if needed to refocus.
It may be used as a delay, but actually changing the racket indicates it's indeed bothering the player - I'd rather play on with the same racket and not get my time-out than change it and potentially be thrown off a bit by a slightly different weight or grip!
The other way round for me. I would rather change the racquet in the midde of a game. That is why I have three of the same model.
And that's why it's more suspect when the player is about to receive a serve at a critical juncture... like game point.
I replace my overgrip every 2 to 3 months. I usually play 2 to 4 hours a week and I also don't usually sweat a lot on my palm. The drier climate here helps too, I suppose. Currently using Wilson Overgrip White. Will be switching to Yonex Supergrap White next.
I usually change the over-grip in about a month's time when the sticky feeling is gone. My hand sweats quite a bit and I have a firm grip.
I had an artengo 8 series, and that grip was sticky as hell, but resisted for 3 months... Then i bought a towel grip and lasted till now, and my brother´s still playing with it.
My overgrip lasts about 10 hours. I like white grips the best and I believe they feel better. For the moment I play with Yonex supergrap for the moment.
Each AC102EX grip would last me about a month (2-3 sessions of badminton per week). So far, I find it damn hard to use towel grip as it kept slipping off my hand when I was playing.
I can get about 16-20 hrs out of a 402DX before it really has to go. Considering how thin they are - and how much resin I use - that's quite something.
I use Prince resi pro over grip and its very grippy but not spongy like the Yonex grips. It's very thin and I use it over the original grip and its very responsive for badminton. Fortunately I don't sweat a lot in my hands and the grip usually last a few months and doesn't ever get soggy, wear out or rip like the Yonex grips. http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/descpage-PRPOG.html
