    Hi all,

Well, you probably heard that my knee was playing up before Denmark well now its given up the hunt, a week before xmas.
Basically, i went to see my physio and he pointed out a number of things. Firstly, i over pronate when i walk, but this is because i have a twisted tibia and the over pronation is because of this twist.
This twist means the knee cap sits to one side rather than sitting flush in the middle. This creates a symptom known as CMP, basically Patella Pain Syndrome or 'cyclists knee'. ( take a look on sport injury database if interested).

So, i have to have shoe inserts to make me walk properly, got some exercises to do using a Thera-Band, pretty nifty, just like a big elastic band and can do tonnes of exercises on them. He also recons i could have done some slight cartiladge damage from the jump smash.

Anyway, Thursday i have to have an MRI scan to see what the real problem is, and if there is some stuff there i need to have it flushed.
Im playing on it, and it doesnt ache, like today its fine after playing so hopefully not too bad. I'll let you guys know the results.

All this to hit a bit of cork stuck to some feathers ey? :)

    Matt

Patella strap may help keep keep the knee away from the sore area, sometimes does work but there is a pain behind the knee aswell.

    Oh well

Knee problem is extremely common with badminton players. Mine is below my right knee cap, real sharp pain on lateral-side to side movement. I guess it will never heal as long as I keep playing. Has been over two years now.

Take some rest, a couple of months, it does help and if you do play, do not play a game, just rally, easy on the drop shots. Good luck.

I'm having some knee pain as well. It's been hurting for about 3 months. I went to my original doctor, physical therapist, and knee specialist. Just recently I had a MRI scan and am still awaiting the results. I've been wearing a patella strap which seems to help a bit. But I can still feel a lot of pain when I'm conditioning and playing.

    Hi all,

Good news. Went to hospital today. Had an x-ray first off and then a consultation with the doctor. Done a series of tests to test the cruciate ligaments which come back negative. He said that i can resume my normal playing but if it starts locking, it may be a miniscus (sp?) tear, but apart from that ive been given the all clear.

Got a few more physio sessions but apart from that, well chuffed!

    Matt

Glad to hear you're doing well.
My recovery with my knee injury received almost 8 months ago now, is still coming along, just strengthening the muscles on a daily basis, and keeping mobility, also my recovery to my forearm is coming around nicely too, after my operation :(

I've just been maintaining a healthy routine, with daily exercise, and a much healthier diet, than I used to have :p

But again, glad to read you're doing better.

Oh, and a "Hi!" and "Happy belated New Year" to all of the BF community members ;)

i have knee and ankle pains after each playing night, in the mornings, just when i wake up.....i use to wrap supports on both ankles and knees during games and still this happens the next morning. Now..no more...i dont wear any of the supports during the game...what i do is actualy do the wrapping AFTER the playing session....like a mummy....lol....i found that its the warm down that is important to prevent the pains....i wear extra new socks, and put on the knee support/wraps AFTER the games.... wear them for an thirty minutes to an hour till your body stabilize after playing.....these days...my morning pains are gone....try if it also works for you... :)

about sore muscles like in the knee or ankle...do regular bending like them slow yoga like when you have the time as a habit...bend them as far as possible even if painful a bit at first..the more often you do it the lesser pain as they become more flexible...stretching them muscles makes them flexible, stronger and able to take more stress for games.

if you are not young anymore, could be uric acid in the muscles and joints...so drinking apple cider vinegar regularly to ease this (look for it in google about this)

I thought it was Thursday night it was banned?

Actually, it got better, then ached for a week and now better again. I gave it a good run around yesterday, jumping twisting to get back full function rather than anything else and it feels good. Still have to do exercises to build the vastus medialis (sp?)

Anyone know how much a MRI scan cost from private clinics in Vancouver Canada? I get quite severe Petalla Pain Fermoral Pain Syndrome in the left knee. The doctor said I needed a week of rest but I just want to make sure.

    Unbelievable.

Get the OK from my physio on Friday, no need to come back. Brilliant news.

Playing to night, 1-0 up in the first match (of three), come nack for a flick and rolled my ankle. There was a double snap and a warm sensation spread across my ankle, did i panic!

After about 5 minutes i managed to compete again but now im worried it might be fractured? There is a dull ache on the left and right hand side even now as i sit and write.

Can someone tell me if these sensations are normal for a twisted ankle? I mite get it checked, but there is no swelling right now.

For years i remained injury free, and now, Mr. Accident Prone. :)

    RICE it!

i had the warm feeling also. not sure what the cause is. but if you dont' ice and compress it soon, it will grow to be as large as a tennis ball.

    "RICE" it??  (hungry?) :p

Yes, you should ice it for 24-48hours first, and then follow-up other treatments.
(One of my friend who is in medical school recommended this to me before)

Hope you have a swift recovery, Matt! Tough luck getting it in the ankle right after your knee recovered:(.

It was the same for me, I went up for a jump smash and landed on the outside ankle bone ( owch) no swelling but immense pain. Silly me continuing playing on it for another 2 hours. What you describe was the same sensation as I got, get it checked!!
