Congratulation for Owi/Butet especially to get pass joachim/christina in CSSP Final. This is definitely good for their confidence next.

Btw, i notice Owi/Butet is always professionally well dressed (more professional than Ahsan/Hendra). Their apparel keep changing (and good) and matching with each other. Must be one of Victor highest paid player in the world.
I wonder if even bigger contract than Lee Yong Dae?

Just to update Owi/Butet's achievement since the last update:
8th SS title for Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir + 7 GPG titles and 1 SEA Games Gold Medal make it 16 titles won by this pair since their pairing 3.5 ago. Compared to Nova Widianto/Liliyana Natsir (17 titles, including 2 SEA Games Gold and 1 Invitational World Cup), they just need 1 more to match them.

Towi/Butet's titles (15 Open titles and 1 World Championships):
    Macau Open GPG 2010, 2011, 2012
    Indonesia Open GPG 2010, 2012
    Malaysia Open GPG 2011
    Swiss Open GPG 2012
    India SS 2011, 2012, 2013
    All-England SSP 2012, 2013
    Singapore SS 2011, 2013
    China SSP 2013

    World Championships 2013

    SEA Games Gold 2011

Remaining big targets to achieve between now and end of 2014:
SS Final, Indonesia SSP and Asian Games Gold.

The SS titles which still elude them:
    Malaysia
    Korea
    Australia (new one from 2014)
    Indonesia
    Japan
    Denmark
    France
    Hong Kong

and I hope they clear most of this list by 2015.

Well well....it has been a disappointing SSF tourney for them (3rd in a row) and its definitely frustrating to see this pair ending the year in a whimper (losing all the group matches last week to their nemesis).

So, they won't win the MVP title....despite winning the World Championships, retaining the All-England Open SSP and India Open SS titles, and winning the China Open SSP and Singapore Open SS title. They have beaten and lost to their 3 major rivals: Zhang/Zhao (2-1), Xu/Ma (3-1), and Fischer-Nielsen/Pedersen (1-3) and ended the year in no 2 WR in 2013.

In total, they lost 9 matches (3 matches at the SSF alone):
    - 1 time each to non major rivals like Jordan/Vita, Zhang/Tang
    - 1 time each to top 5-10 pair like Sudket/Saralee and the Adcocks
    - 1 time each to Zhang/Zhao and Xu/Ma
    - 3 times to Fischer-Nielsen/Pedersen (highlighting the serious problem they are still having facing the top Danish pair).

Like Ahsan/Hendra, the major targets next year will be the All-England, World Championships, and Asian Games 2014. Let them play in only selective big tourneys and utilize both to groom new talents! I foresee them to play only in:
    - Malaysia, All-England, Indonesia, Denmark, and China SSPs
    - selective SS (not all of them - they are already going to miss Korea SS): probably India (good hunting ground), Singapore (low cost), Australia (new ground) or Japan (2 out of 3 tourneys in June to combine with INA SSP), and French or Hong Kong (to combine with either Denmark or China).
    World Championships and Asian Games
    - Indonesia GPG (home tourney)

This should pan out to 11-12 tourneys + 1 Asian Games + possibly another SSF at the end of the year.

So, with the 3rd All-England title in their medal collection, the next targets will be to defend their India & Singapore SS titles. With Zhang/Zhao and Xu/Ma (esp the later pair) lurking in both tourneys, it will not be easy for them to defend the titles. Both pairs will also be their main obstacles for an Asian Games Gold medal later this year.

So, upcoming tourneys for them will be:
    1-6 Apr India SS
    8-13 Apr Singapore SS
10-15 Jun Japan SS (or 24-29 Jun Australia SS)
    17-22 Jun Indonesia SSP
    25-31 Aug World Championships
9-14 Sep Indonesia GPG (warm-up event, maybe paired with juniors?)
    19-29 Sep Asian Games
    14-19 Oct Denmark SSP
    21-26 Oct French SS (optional)
    11-16 Nov China SSP
18-23 Nov Hong Kong SS (optional)
    17-21 Dec World SS Finals

Lilyana played lethargic, static and surprisingly did not dominate the front. Hence they lost in straight-set to the Koreans pair, KSH/KH in India Super Series which is too bad. This is a very winable SS.

They are starting to play inconsistence, Korea Ko is now more energy, no lee yong dae to partner him in doubles.

As mentioned in Jawa Pos, Liliyana Natsir has the monthly female thingy, which affected her performance yesterday. Indeed, she looked very lethargic and made many unforced errors yesterday. Coupled with the Korean pair's strong defense and the INA pair always looked vulnerable with the long rallies as they ended up with the mistake eventually.

I won't be too worried about this defeat and Richard Mainaky was right in saying that Owi/Butet have other bigger targets to focus on this year (World Championships, Asian Games Gold, and SS Finals). They should adjust themselves to peak at the right moment. It's better not to peak right now and ended up with winning the big tourneys.

They should treat the run-up to the World Championships as training grounds, especially against the top 3 pairs. Even Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei are also not in a great form lately.

3rd Singapore Open SS title for the pair now, combined with the 3 AE SSP and India Open SS titles and the solitary China Open SSP title; the pair has won 10 SS/SSP titles. They are still behind Zhang/Zhao in terms of number of titles and I don't think they will be able to catch-up.

The key thing is for them to remain focused for the remaining main tourneys this year: World Championships and the Asian Games Individual-Event. Maybe you can add the Indonesia Open SSP also. The SS Finals is another major target but they have never done well in even reaching SF in the past few times they competed in that tourney. Maybe it's the end-of-year thingy and they are not that motivated for it.

I will be very happy if they can win these 3-4 events and be competitive (reaching SFs and Finals) of the other SS tourneys that they may be involved in (most possibly Denmark, French, China, and maybe Australia/Japan). I think they will skip 2 SS tourneys (most likely Hong Kong and either Australia/Japan).

Too bad... would have loved watching them at the WC. :crying: Apparently, Tantowi had injured his ankle at the Australian Open and will not be able to recover 100% in time for the WC. But he is on track to fully recover before the Asian Games. :)
