Please don't make recommendations without anyone knowing anything about you, your style of play, your physiology, or injuries. It means nothing to anybody. Don't get me wrong, we're all very happy if you're happy, but you're not bringing any information anyone can use.

And yeah, what's with your sting and tension choices?! Totally bizarre.

Agreed... I dont think MX80 is as easy to start with compared to MX60 or even JJS. It's like asking ppl to start with Zforce if you want to try Yonex... :p

I agree. Mx80 is not a easy racket to start. However it's a good benchmark for other meteor series imo.

@Maklike, I second that, furthermore with 28lbs on mx80, im surprised that orangie did not feel like it's hitting with a plank of wood.

Well, I'm putting 32 in mine... what's stiffer than a plank of wood?

    A plank of iron?

He mentioned before last time he did strung at tension around 22-25 but he felt it was like hitting a plank of wood but he felt great with 28lbs. Im just curious about the progression of his tension experiment.

Then perhaps so am I - mine's got 32 on it as well :D Although to be fair, smashes suffer noticeably :D

The MX80 at tension around 28 lbs (ZM62) and 31lbs (BG80) works fine for me.

I heard MX 80 is slightly stiffer than JJS

I've only ever tried the MX80 at mid-20's before, so my usual tension might not work with this thing...

That struck me as odd as well - it usually goes the other way.

Unless he was referring to the lack of feel, rather than the excessive stiffness.

I ended up with BG66UM @ 25lbs on the MX80. It was a good combo and I thought it had the same awesome feel as VS850 but with more repulsion. BG80 was good too, and I ran that at 26lbs. I even didn't mind BG65 on it as it softened it a bit, but I ran that at 28lbs.

However none of those worked in the end with my 41 year old shoulder so I ditched the MX80 and got the 60 instead. Worked better for me and kept me out of hospital, so that's a bonus

As a general rule however, if you try a racket and it's just a little too crisp or stiff or whatever, it's worth trying a soft string to see if you can add in a bit more damping.

However I can see the argument that that would spoil a rackets feel and that's kinda valid. However, I still think it's worth a try.

Although I'm such a BG66UM fanboi these days, that if a racket doesn't work at my favored 24x26lbs, then it basically just sits in my bag gathering dust. :)

If I like some of those rackets sitting in the bag.. Would you let them go? :D
