Aya Ohori went out thanking her former coach, Imam ( after beating He) , now coaching INA MS Junior...
I agree that this is the best case scenario for world badminton... where there are 5 winners from 5 countries... Too bad that German BS and Bulgarian GS player failed in the QF...
What for? I dont think she doesn't have any necessary to compete in junior (U19) level anymore, having 3 WJC title and WC title recently.
if I am not mistaken, according to BWF rule, one can only participate in maximum 3 WJC. RI had done it and she had won all 3.
FINALS (12.00pm) => http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/s...17D8EF-077A-41C0-B252-E410EAB8462F&d=20131103
The last time the YOG was held, there were only the two singles events so it is not much of a replacement for the WJC. In addition, only 17 and 18-year-olds were allowed in Singapore so Ratchanok and Axelsen, for example, would not have had the opportunity to shine in 2010, had the WJC been cancelled. However, considering that the WJC used to be held every other year anyway, your point is still valid. Perhaps if they could count on a 5-event YOG every time, they might consider it.
I don't know of any such rule. If there is one, Ratchanok already broke it because she had already been in the quarter-finals of the 2008 WJC before her string of three titles. Porntip also played in four. As far as I know, Ratchanok chose to skip the WJC for the reasons mentioned above (i.e. that she had already won it three times) and also a desire she has mentioned several times to qualify for the Superseries Finals. She also just happened to be playing in the CBSL this weekend. Possibly those experiences are more important to her at this point. They are both more lucrative and more challenging for her.
because Qualification Regulations for NYOG 2014 http://www.bwfbadminton.org/file_download.aspx?id=423677&tid=1 D. Qualification System Entries will be accepted in the following order: 1. The World Junior Championships 2014 quarter-finalists in the men’s and women’s singles events, if eligible, will qualify, unless a total of two athletes from any one NOC would thereby be exceeded.
Yes, please let us know if there is a Live Streaming channel. The one from "True Sport 7" highlighted in earlier post "keeps stopping, most time not playing at all".
hi Jimmy, I used to watch True SPort 7 from this link: http://tv-online.in/true-sport-7-live But now they are showing tennis only!
I am sure during our school days we often referred to the brightest pupil in our class as genius. Sometimes we even classified the brighter ones as genius 1 and genius 2 etc. Surely we were just complimenting them for their intelligence rather than saying that they are in the same league as Albert Einstein or Prof. Hawking. I had a math teacher who would always call a classmate the champion of all champions. Each one of us has our own way of describing or giving compliments to someone’s ability. Hence we have a gentleman in this forum who likes to refer to RI, PVS, Akane, Busana, Jonathan Christie and HBJ as “child prodigy’. It is just his way of praising these players’ ability. Surely all of us know that the term prodigy here is not used in the same sense as when people are referring to Adelaide’s Terence Tao, a Cantonese-speaking prodigy who picked up Mathematics at the age of 2 by just watching Sesame Street and went own to win the Fields Medal (equivalent to the Noble Prize) at the age of 31. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terence_Tao I don’t understand why the need for such a vehement protest and sarcasm against the term “child prodigy” Surely the principle “to each, his own” applies in this forum.
According to the TV guide for today, all the True Sport Channels (1-7) are not showing the WJC final. I guess maybe it's because there is no Thai players in the final. haha SOurce: http://www.truevisionstv.com/m/guide_ch_list.aspx?wCh=2
