I am not familiar with android apps. I want to use my android phone as a training aid to provide video feedback during a coaching session. I would like to use it for the following : Take a snapshot of (or pause ) the video and then draw lines over it to demonstrate posture, footwork, hand positions etc . Slow motion the video - a student can then review their actions within a lesson and make alterations. Is there anyway to link it up to a projector so that a large class can view it as we draw on the pictures in real time? What apps should I be looking at?
there's one for sports such as golf, tennis, baseball... but you have to pay some $ and even then the videos are not on your device but on their server... lemme find it
called "coach's eye"... only $5 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.techsmith.apps.coachseye&hl=en
linking to a projector will depend on your output capabilities of your android device... and then you'll need to buy the micro hdmi adapter cable to connect

Are you in the process of getting an Android mobile device? The Note 3 has most of these features built in (see the commercial on YouTube - search for "Introducing Samsung GALAXY Note 3" it should be the first video that's approx 6.5min long). I'm not trying to start a phone war, just that I saw the commercial and it shows pretty much all the things you mentioned you wanted to do. Plus I believe the phone takes 120 fps in video so you can do slo-mo. I believe the Mega also has similar capability and an even larger screen making it easier to view with multiple people on a court. Again I'm not a salesman (in fact I use an iPhone). But it might be worth checking out. Good luck Visor. Game on.
Tks tobradex (are you an ophthalmologist by any chance ), but it's Cheung who's searching. I looked at Samsung's slow mo but looks like the slowest is 1/8 th speed, which may not be slow enough. That Slow Motion Video app that I use can do it much slower and frame by frame also. Although if my S3 smartphone is recording at 30 fps, then the slow replay may be not as smooth as the 120 fps by the S4.
you will be surprised how slow 1/8th speed is: while not the super slowmo we see from some BWF videos. it is quite adequate for coaching purposes.
Haha, Opthalmologist? I think I need one Visor. I'm a dolt, I meant Cheung but I was looking at your last post before I typed and typed your handle instead. My bad. As for 1/8th, it's pretty slow. At the least, slow enough to pause pretty much where you want to illustrate something. And the cool thing with the new Samsung phones (especially with the pens) is that you can mark up what you are looking at. And then email it to the student on the spot. Fairly impressive the first time I saw it, but maybe I'm living under a rock and haven't seen much. Good luck CHEUNG! Game on.
I am trying out the various functions with the pen. Not yet convinced it's making my input on to BC any faster. Somehow, I was getting chinese to come up. Anyhow, the installed app on the note 3 doesn't slow video down. Hence my original post looking for another app.
you lucky guy... you have the note 3... how do you fit that in your pocket?! which app are you referring to?
It's got a purple background and white triangle in the middle. It's simply called 'video '. The screen is very nice. First android device.
we have a tab 3 8.0 too along with my s3... love the freedom away from ios go download the "slow motion video" app... you won't regret it...
LOL. Not sure if it is that awesome. Still getting used to it. Some things are better on the iPhone. Some are better on android. Plus my iTunes doesn't download updates to apps, I can't change around the way the apps are organised using on the computer and I can't search for apps very well. Loading up photos and having to sync them is a pain in the proverbial backside. Android's drag and drop makes it sooo much easier to have a photo portfolio the device. Got the "slow motion" app downloaded. Seems a little buggy but that's exactly the function I am looking for! Thanks Visor
IPhone was great for a few yrs for me until age caught up to me. When iPhone 4 came out last yr with only a slight height increase in screen size, switching to the S3 saved me from having to wear bifocals. The slow mo app can be occasionally buggy, but it's already one of the better ones and what do you expect from a free app.
When you have some examples do you mind posting a few vids of your handiwork Cheung? Be interested to see the outcome. I'm thinking of switching to using a mobile device to record as well.
This is the video from my S3. http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php/132378-Video-Backhand-short-serve
