His wife is the one pulling the strings. She is convinced that an engraved serial number means the racket is legit. Now that she is no longer responding to messages via eBay, I'll have to begin the PayPal grievance process. What a pain. I am interpreting that serial number correctly?
I'm going through the same process via eBay. I should have never bought the racket without researching the serial number stuff. :/ She doesn't want to refund the racket. Do I have a case for a racket that has a 70th month serial number on the cone--207002SP.

racket model: Yonex Voltric 80 (VT80) shaft serial: 4309048 cone code : 170432US source : Amazon.com(amazon is the seller, not any third party) price : $152.36 I went to my local guy in Dallas to get it stringed, His family runs American Badminton Center in Dallas. He was a bit concerned with the racquet and the price. He was comparing side by side with another VT80 thats over a year or so old. The laser engraving on mine is a lot lighter(whiter) in color than the old one. But the engraving is exact same quality. Also the grip was a bit over the logo too as per picture. There was a slight diff in paint job also. He also said something about the Yonex logo on the T joint looking funny. The racquet is sold directly by Amazon and they literally just put the box from Yonex CA in the Amazon box with the shipping receipt and all also attached. It was a steal on Amazon.com, since it's amazon as the seller, I assume I'm safe, but I'm not 100% even with all the docs etc. What do you guys think?
yes, I think the serial number a bit dodgy, but, as far as I understand it should be fine, I can hardly find any fake US code (in fact not even once) and IMO the code is plausible, it is good *yes it is a steal, I wonder how the could lower the price that much??
Guys. It's still available on Amazon.com now at the same price. They dropped the price because another seller(third party) legit or not, dropped their price, therefore Amazon matched. They tend to lose money a lot on some of their sale items just to beat others etc. I bought it just because I assumed no fakes with Amazon.com. Though they are not listed as an AD on Yonexusa.com site. I might send them an email just to reconfirm. I was fine until the owner/trainer of the AD identified concern. Specifically with: -overlapping grip -logo on T joint -serial number much lighter in color(white vs grey) -paint job a tad different when comparing side by side with a 1-2 year old VT80.
He also basically said "you cant get a real one at that price". That there are requirements to have a set price or even floor price. I try to tell him Amazon does this all the time with a bunch of stuff. But I dont think we was a happy camper. He said that his cost basis was higher than that.
IMO, nothing wrong with your racket.. the cone code and shaft serial is fine (even though it is a bit strange, but I don't think it is a problem, VT80 is well know to have very bad QC, many problems with the cosmetic), the logo on T-joint is also fine the butt cap is kinda strange, it should not be covering the bottom till it that round, but the logo and the writings is fine and can I see the bag? usually it is a good indication if the racket fake or not based on the bag
Bag looks great. I'll take some pics when I get home. Printing on the bag looks great. The main reason I think its legit is it's direct from Amazon.com which intern is direct from Yonex (even if not authorized dealer) and even have the yonex packing slip etc.
WOW...guys..I emailed yonexUSA. who got back to me same day within a couple of hours: Dear David XXXX: Thanks for your interests in Yonex badminton products. Amazon.com is one of Yonex authorized dealers(not 3rd party). and the order number you gave us(#XXXXX) is Yonex order number. If any further question, let us know. Have a good day
