I agree with the first part of what you said. The conditions those professional players go through may well be beyond our imagination. So without more information, we have to give them the benefit of doubts. I don't feel it really matters whether lcw finished the game or not. It's better to protect himself to avoid further injury. without any evidence, we cannot accuse lcw retired just to dampen ld's excitement.

But, excuse my french, your second part is pure bs. you guys are asking for fairness. then you should be fair yourself. the chinese team is not the most ethical one in the world. but some of lcw fans here are not the most rational, reasonable and ethical ones either. without evidence, what you said is just baseless unfair speculation and accusation. Did you see the chinese team trained with AC on? Did you read LYB's mind through some crystal balls? If not, be fair and give them the benefit of doubt, instead of bsing around like you know something.

It seems we've reached an impasse. It's now divided into those who believe the BWF's report and those who don't. Then there are the different versions of events from the Chinese media (AC off since SF), BAM (AC off in G2 of MSF), and BWF (AC turned to low for Finals day). Someone has mentioned that BAM has petitioned for an investigation, but I don't think that's going to get us anywhere closer to the truth. It all boils down to who you believe at this stage.

Regardless, I don't think the AC affected the MSF, at least not to the degree that some people are claiming. If the issue is about the heat, both players had to endure the same heat. Sure, LCW had a tougher SF late the previous day. But that is the luck of the draw, that is part of any tournament. He had about 20 hours to recover (he finished at about 11PM, MSF started past 7PM), which is definitely not the most taxing of schedules for a professional player.

If the issue is about the drift, it only matters if there is evidence that the AC was switched off at the start of G2, which anyone has yet to provide. Even if it was, and let's just assume LD knew about it beforehand for the sake of the argument, LCW still made an inordinate number of misjudgments. Before the interval in G2, LCW made 6 misjudgments, 2 on each line. As we know the "normal" drift had a sideways component as well, and it doesn't make sense for LCW to err on both sides. In addition, CMIIW, but I don't think LD lifted/cleared long when he was playing with the wind in his SF, implying that he had a good grasp of the length even when the drift is present, and as such his relative lack of errors (in that department) in the final doesn't necessarily point to the absence of a drift. Let's not forget LCW has a high (relative to his standard) tendency to misjudge shots, especially in stressful situations (first instance that comes to mind is the LOG MSF G3, 19-18).

So, AC or not, I don't think there'd be a difference to the result of the match. I honestly thought that LCW was going to win when he was up 10-6 at the G3 interval, and then LD slowed the pace and played long rallies and LCW started making mistakes, allowing LD to overtake at 11-10. I felt that was the turning point of the match, eerily reminiscent of his WC 2010 match against Taufik, where IIRC he was leading 10-7 and TH managed to overtake 11-10, and we all know the result of that match.

but there hasn't been any mentioned of a pulled hamstring. either from LCW or from anyone else.

if this is a new theory. i don't see any supporting evidence.

    How do you know that?

The day before I played a guy name Yu Du Peng, he is a tough runner! You see how I was 99.87% going to win?

If the AC wasn't turned off in the midst of the game.
If I played under a fAIR condition.
If I didn't play a tough guy from the day before.
If I am not the lone ranger in the team.
If I had never witness his topless robot dance.
If I had egg breakfast with bacon on the side that morning....

My defeat has NOTHING to do with my skill, fitness, game strategy and mental. Most importantly, it is certainly not because my opponent is stronger. He always have better luck, I mean ALWAYS!!!!:mad::mad::mad:

On the humor side, we do have some great additional material for "Excuses for losing" over the past year.

    There was a drift.
    There was no drift.
    The aircon was switched off
    BAM didn't rage enough
    I don't have enough quality sparring partner's
My sparring partners are at the nightclub

    (strictly humour!!!)

And from last year, though not quite losing a match

    The Olympic committee disqualified me...:crying:

It's just a theory. My theory is based on what I saw in the video from 00:32:50 to 00:33:20 and the fact that LCW didn't stretch his hamstring (as kwun has pointed out). If he pulled his hamstring (or he thought he might pull his hamstring), he probably didn't want the whole world (and/or his wife) to know about it. Just my mere speculation.

I thought a person (or a group of people) deliberately scheduled LD's Semi final in the afternoon and LCW's Semi Final at 11pm. Maybe I misunderstand the situation???

As pointed out before, 20 hours off court between LCW game and the final. They could always have 2 courts going simultaneously for the semifinals but the commercialisation and TV considerations have a very high priority. Don't want to sound like a broken record but a professional player should be able to play a match and be prepared for the next day.

How quickly, or conveniently, that people forget or overlook that at the 2011 WC, LCW had an easy afternoon match in the semi-final and LD had a tough 3-game match in the second last match of the evening.

And on Sunday, the MS final was the second match in the afternoon, not the last.

Also, while playing DPY in the semi-final is not easy, it does not compare to playing CL in the quarter-final round.

    Fantastic research.
Except that this time LCW s body language is excellent. Shows confidence and mental preparation.
When the aircon was turned off after G1, it meant LD would not be mentally burdened to play with the drift in mind on the bad side, which would otherwise affect his physical play. On the other hand, LCW would have to make the shocking discovery of no drift advantage and make adjustments (based on mental mapping from five previous matches.) LD was aware of the aircon trick (from his play) whereas LCW would not believe that the aircon trick would be used in this world class World Championship ( and not just mini Macau Open.) So instead of LCW being unburdened to play freely in G2, it was LD. Not only had LCW lost the advantage of freedom, he now was mentally burdened to adjust his game, while still thinking, is the aircon on or off. So instead of LD having a harder time , LCW ended up having a doubly harder time with LD having an easier time. By the time LCW got over his 'what's going on here mode' ( in Steen s words), it was 11-1. No way for LCW to win in 2 games. When GC asked if LCW should give up G2 to save energy, Steen said no because LCW had to play his way into the match again.
And there s no need for Plan C because Nature would take care of it. A gruelling SF, way past normal bedtime 2am sleep, heat and humidity all would work nicely to catalyse the physical distress in LCW s body.
What I m most impressed by LCW is how well and long he had held up in G3. His mental strength must be exquisite. Perhaps honed from having only 12 days to get match fit for London Olympics. LCW should realize he is the extraordinary player.
(This post is written based on the commentators aircon version rather than the official version.)
China. A nation of great history and accomplishments. Dumbed down by a few.
Fake milk, fake matches and now fake aircon.

AC was not turned off after G1. It was set to low. Read the BWF press release.

Nope. LCW is weak mentally. When LD was given the wild card, LCW cried about it. If he were mentally strong, he would have welcome the challenge and welcomed LD's entry into the WC.

Based on your theory, is it safe to say that a person (or a group of people) deliberately scheduled LCW's SF in the afternoon and LD's SF in the evening at WC 2011?
Or maybe it is just part of the game scheduling?

And one more point! Nobody scheduled LCW's match on 11 pm in the SF stage. They scheduled it as the 4th match only, not scheduled the time. The reason of why it played on 11 pm was because another matches before his take longer time. So, should we blame the WD, MD and XD that played before LCW for taking too much time?
