miahahahaha .... so sarcastic

next time if there any player complaining that the light is too bright then switch off the lights before the men's single final .... hahaha ..... then can claim it's fair for both players.

sure. it is fair. It would be dark but fair to both players. Similarly, turning the AC off before msf made the stadium hot but fair to both players. Don't you agree? Then why would some people feel it was unfair to lcw?

Well, according the Sina press: 由于开赛以来,不断有球员抱怨广州天河体育中心综合馆的风影响落点,所以从昨天的半决赛开始,世锦赛组委会关了现场空调,只不过昨天晚上的人没有今天决赛人多,当时还能勉强忍受,而今天的林李大战使得赛场几乎满座,加重了现场的热闷。

A rough translation is: “Due to the continuous complains from the players on the drift affecting the shuttle, the “Organising Committee” of the World Championship had decided to turn off the air-con since the “Semi Final”. In the night of the Semi Final, the condition was bearable as there was less audience. In the Final, the temperature was even higher, as there was a full house.”
So, if this is true, then the air-con was off all day in the Final, not switched off in the middle of the game. I suppose the 8,000 excited audience did made a difference to the temperature. So, that affected both side evenly! The report also said it was the decision of the “Organising Committee”, and I would be very surprise if no representative from BWF was on the “Organising Committee”. BWF should come out to clarify on this point!

Thanks for the link. So the airconditioning was switched off from the Semi-Finals stage and not just the Finals - it was a decision made after many players complained to the organizer of the drift in the big stadium. It's just that there were many more spectators for the Finals than the Semi-Finals, therefore it felt hotter on Finals day.

And your other point in another post is right about the temperature taking some time to rise, maybe 10-15 minutes and not immediately after the aircond has been switched off. Again, you're right to conclude that it was switched off before the start of the match, not during.

I surmise that the hall was already cooled ahead of time and only switched off just at the start of the Finals matches. My friend in the aircond line tells me that it is unlikely the whole aircond system was turned off as it would be too stuffy and unacceptable for many people in the audience; he believed only part of the aircond was off just enough to take care of the drift problem but still the temp would rise after some time because the reduced aircond capacity would be inadequate for the cooling load.

hmmmmm .... don't know about other people .... for me, just face the fact that LD defeated LCW ..... whatever things happen after that won't make any effect on the result ..... next tourney perhaps we could see some other new faces in the final stage

Your classroom is smaller than the Tian He stadium!

Still, it would take time to heat up if the aircon was switched off at the start go matches. Also, during the heating up process, convection currents will still occur. Once the ambient temperature has already risen, there would be less drift.

it would be shame if a 5 star college doesnt have a/c. well lets not off topic.

and our number is just microorganism compared to the number of people at Tian He stadium.

sina's report is bs, not surprisingly.

from my memory,
1. the temperature was steady for the first 4 finals. roughly 24C
2. by the end of game 2 of the MSF, the temperature was roughly 30C. when i looked up at the audience, i could see everyone fanning.

I dont remember when exactly the temperature started increasing since I was focused on the game, but the temp increased kind of suddenly over the span of about 20 min

if the audience is fanning themselves, would that cause drift?
