Very true. Without each other, they would not have been pushed to the incredible heights of badminton that we've been fortunate to witness in our lifetime.

But even then, this would be the first time that I'll stick my neck out for Datuk 60/40 to take it in a close match. :)

It will be most humiliating for LCW if he again succumbed to Lin Dan and managed only 7 and 9 points in straight set loss. He should only have himself to blame for not being able to overcome the mental block Lin Dan imposed on him for so long. It is time for LCW to move away from that mental block. Skills and fitness LCW and Lin Dan are on level, if LCW is not slightly better on current forms. But win or loss is another issue when mental block sets in, sigh..............

maybe we can look the other thing to justify that LCW also a great player. He holds the record of being ranked number one for 250 or 260 weeks...surely more than Lin Dan...really a great player...

Really heartbreaking end to the match. He fought on despite his body refusing to go further, but in the end it just wasn't possible for him. Again, Lin Dan proves himself to be a true legend - despite not being able to outpace everyone anymore, he took the big title yet again.
I'm gonna miss these clashes when these two are not around anymore, I don't think we'll see anything that can compare in the next few years.

Quite disappointed with LCW's early performance. IMO, it's like he gave up on the idea of aggression. He kept on rallying with LD which is a terrible choice for him considering LCW's anxiety issues when against most of the Chinese players.

But of course this opinion of mine would be invalid if he was in pain from the very start. I guess not.
Although I feel bad for what happened to chong wei at the end and to Lin Dan for not being able to complete the game of just 1 point. I really look up to Chong Wei, I hope he didn't create this act as an excuse of losing for Gold again.

Li Yong-bo ordered to change off the air condition after Lin Dan has lost the first set. And what happened? All Clears from Lin Dan drifted back in and LCW was 9-1 down...

Sorry to see how this ended for LCW. Fans can point to any reasons that they think is valid for his loss and LD's triumph.

LCW is like a silver ant - admirable because of his hard work, sad because he may never get the 'gold' in badminton.

Nevertheless, THANK YOU for your continuing contribution to the country and wishing you a SPEEDY RECOVERY.

I think LCW lost because of two factors:

    (1) BWF granted wild card to LD.

    (2) DuPY played against LCW late last night.

no1. don't think that was the reason but no.2 really affected him. DPY played superb and over an hour with such intense game its possible for LCW to recover fully within 24 hours.
Actually LCW wasn't any fitter than LD despite his lack of competition.

well LCW could just be the most unlucky person in world badminton...born in the same era as the great LD as Gill Clark have said time and time again in each and every major final. He had his chance in the 3rd before the change of ends and he blew it. But hats off to him, the fact that he, a man of such high fitness can end the match like that proved that he worked really hard.

Here is the latest update that I got from Khairy Jamaluddin, Sport Minister twitter,

From Dr Ramlan of ISN: Appears to be cramps of the quads, needs urgent attention in hospital, for the dehydration & possible ascending cramps,

Dr Ramlan: when it goes up to abdomen & then to d chest. Let's pray that d cramps is confined to d quads & that our man is safe.

I also noticed that LCW took plenty of liquid during the match.
