    Hi, as per title.
Thinking of joining... How's the level and friendliness here? And is it crowded during peak times ie 7-9pm? Tks!

Best AFFORDABLE facility in the lower mainland. Level of play is very consistent and competitive. Friendliness depends on what days and hours you play, some groups are very cliquey and only sticks with themselves until you have proven yourself. Crowd has been dwindling with every passing year due to more places opening up elsewhere, so there are amble court space. Feather shuttles only, anything else is frowned upon. Facility is accessible 24/7. I drop in on Wednesday and Saturday nights only. If you like to try out, you can be my guest. Let me know.

Hi @cappy75 , I saw you last night there, wearing red right? :) I was Patrick's guest there, checking out the place. Played with Cindy, David, Tony, Peter, Fred, Stan, and some others. Nice people, good games.

Yeah, Patrick warned me about the cliques on Tuesday, Friday nights.

    Unfortunately those are my preffered
    nights to play.

    Thanx for the heads
    up. :)

If you play 3 or more times per wk. ;) :)

It works out to only around $60 per month. $15 per wk.

    Hey Visor,

Yup! That's me. We might have met before too. I am friends with PeteLSD.

Friday nights should be possible for you if you have your own 4Some. Best thing about VRC is still the facility. Shower plus sauna after games is the best experience.

It is affordable comparing to Hollyburn, VLTBC and the Arbutus Club.

Wow! Was that when LazyBuddy was up? There is another facility (Khas) which is bigger and actually the best of the current crop of converted warehouses.

I'm surprised that there isn't any more VRC members providing their input ;)

Yes, the VRC is probably one of the best badminton facility in Vancouver and is worth the annual dues if you play often and know enough members to play with. There are folks who are very sociable and friendly and there are folks are picky about playing with lower level folks :) I think that if you show up enough time for the mixer/social nights, etc and you are a decent player, you will probably be invited to join other groups for the nights that fit your schedule.

No, I'm not a member and don't plan to given my previous experience with the head coach there from years and years ago.

LOL! Most of those members have long "retired" from the club. What with the growth of baddy clubs spawning all over Richmond, BC, VRC is dying a slow death. One used to have to be on the waiting list to be a member, those days are long gone. VRC is still a top notch facility but not everyone is willing to pay the price to play there.

Thanks for all the help fellas! :)

Since their year end is Apr 30, and all dues are pro rated to that date no matter when you join, I may just join for these remaining 2 months to try out and see if I can meet enough people on the Wednesday mixer doubles night ... hopefully to know more people so that I can play Fridays too. :D
