We are one world one life, with animals, humans, bacteria, and trees-yes trees) all "related" having sprung from the same tree. In fact our own body is all bacteria. Now, of course there is a huge range of IQ, if there is any among some species, and am I guilty of being racist propagating racist propaganda? Or is saying there are Whites, Africans, and East Asians being "racist".
Maybe, there is some breakdown in communication here. Or is it between knowledge and merely what one reads and takes what is read as true knowledge?

China was never that close to Russia although both were communist. The reason was that nobody dominates over China but Russia behaved like it was the pack leader, a big mistake.
Russia and all her satellite East European allies formed a trade and economic bloc COMECON, a world socialist trade market. China never became a member and instead spearheaded its own economic/trade model.
China was independently antagonistic towards the US independent of Russia. It was like a 3-way game, the west led by the US, Russia and then China.
The west's tilt towards China was not initially due to the rift between Russia and China, because Russia had intentions to wipe China off with nuclear warfare. The US detente with China was due to Russia's ganging up with India against China and Pakistan, climaxing the increasing hostility between Russia and China. The US was alarmed at this new India/Russia alliance and sought to ally with China to counter this new development. The US also wanted China's help in ending the Vietnam war.
Incidentally, both Kessinger and Nixon were awed by Mao and Zhou Eng Lai, and subsequently Deng Xiaoping. Kessinger gave huge praises to Deng with fashioning the modernization that would transform Mao's drab agricultural communes into a burstling economic giant. Zhou Eng Lai conducted conversations with the effortless grace and superior intelligence of the Confucian sage. And Mao? They were simply awe-struck by a giant.
That was then the first impressions by two American statesmen of China's leaders. Deng also struck Britain's Margaret Thatcher as someone hugely monumental in stature (not physical).
Today's Chinese top leaders are of the same mold.

This may be an eye-opener to have a peep into China's dramatic success. The key is a policy of focusing on a scientific development. This requires an environment that is devoid of hocus pocus, superstitions, freedom of religion as well as freedom FROM religion.
www.globaltimes.cn/content/722997.shtml gives a glimpse of what has been going on.
There is more than freedom of religion, which must be able to stand the ultimate test of a willingness to embrace members of the same family adopting or not adopting different religions. Now, how many so called countries that allow this? Wouldn't it be good for us if say the husband is a christian, the wife a muslim, the 3 children intentionally not indoctrinated to any religion until they are 18 when they can choose to be what they want to be? Isn't this real synergy instead of forcing all members to be in the same mold, like copies made from a copying machine?
As you can read this subtle distinction, there must also be freedom FROM religion within freedom of religion.
Loh, you agree? Or am I talking rubbish?

Perhaps the following site will provide readers with a better understanding of western democracy, US version: www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_United_States_military_operations.
It is always at war without any break. Maybe its their "thou shall be free to bear arms" constitution right that is the root cause of this endless wars.
If you base your opinions on the current Syrian conflict on western media alone, with its loudest mouth Hillary Clinton, then how about opening your mind to media from non-pro western media? This should, plus your own critical thinking, and plus a more rational search for "what's each party's motive" might give you a balanced perspective.

    Well that article also said:

"Development bottlenecks such as a yawning urban-rural development gap, pollution, excessive consumption of energy and resources and social instability will be hurdles for the country's development.

Moreover, the global economic slump, regional conflicts and trade protectionism will add more uncertainties to China's development.

The success of the past 10 years has been driven by China's reform and opening-up, said Ren Yuan, a professor at the School of Social Development and Public Policy at Fudan University.

If China wants to create more room for further development, it needs to forge ahead with its reform and opening-up efforts and remove the hurdles that stand in its way. "

Here is good news for anyone who are looking to buy unlimited amounts of the Chinese Yuan, provided he or she is not a HK permanent resident. This is another huge step forward in China's reform. This move seals HK's role as the biggest centre for Yuan trading. London and Singapore will play a secondary role.
Another marked difference between American leaders and Chinese leaders is the different focus of both. China focuses on the big picture in its relationship with the US mainly in areas of national interest for both countries. The US focuses and wastes too much time on the human rights of one or a few dissidents, missing out on how to "change the world" like a NIxon or a Kessinger.
To compare, Nixon/Kessinger have "changed" the global landscape in 1972 with Mao, even when Americans, western world and Taiwan in particular were aghast with kicking out Taiwan with China taking its rightful place in the UN and the world stage.
Now, all American presidents and lawmakers do is playing childish games. The specter of Obama and Romney, Republicans versus Democrats, playing games with each other bemuses the whole world, which is not funny. Where is the drive and focus to do something for the national interest?

I believe that over the long term the East Asians will rule the world. The US will lose its dominant position because of its structural impediment to human development. Let me explain why this is so.
Do you know why there is increasing so called class difference in the US? The blacks are being left behind with no cross-over for upward mobility from the poor to the better off blacks, the East Asians in particular and the other Asians in general will continue to outperform the rest of the community because of better upward mobility borne from their cultural traits, the Latinos will lag behind the whites. In these different groups the gap between them will become bigger. You can actually try to draw an interesting map of any city's racial groups by the areas they live in. There is very little mix between the races.
Therein lies the problem. The root cause of this is structural, the inability of any upward mobility and its real absence of religious freedom in the true sense of the word.
In the US there is very little tolerance for freedom of religion and thought. If you are an atheist or an agnostic, you will be faced with discrimination. You cannot stand for high elected offices or be the president of the country. If the president were to say that he is an atheist who wants to see real freedom of religion as well as freedom from religion within religions, within a family, and within a community, do you know what will happen to him?
I am sure there are many high elected officials, ex-presidents, etc. who were not deeply religious but had to pretend they were to survive such an intolerant religious environment.
Contrast this with East Asians where it is not unusual to find different members of the same family, same community, same village having different religions or atheists and they have absolutely no problem. This real freedom creates an environment of a cross-over knowledge and upward mobility. Take for example China and Hong Kong where it is very common to find children of impoverished families rising to very senior officials, businessmen, and successful academics. This cross-over and upward mobility among East Asians are based on their culture and will be the key to its success. The west and the rest of the world don't come close in this aspect. Compounded over a hundred years the gap will be even greater.

I have been away from these forums for a very long time and I really do not care for much of the sport at the moment, but seeing as it's Olympics season.. I thought I'd check this out.

Let me just point out for the record, that there is an unofficial rule, you cannot elect a President, in the United State of America, who isn't married, who isn't male, and who is not practicing some sort of Christian faith

We on the other hand in Australia, have a prime minister (who we put up with) who
    a) Is female
    b) Is an Atheist
    b) Is not married
    c) Has a live in partner (de-facto partner)

With regards to uncle Eepak's comments, on why he believes IQs and stuff on East Asians etc, I will first like to point one a few things.

    1) We must be open enough to accept that he has a point of view on the matter. In fact he is just detailing an observation he made

    2) We should also therefore recognise that in a way, he has a right to express his views on the subject matter, no matter right or wrong, if that is what you believe each person's rights are. You cannot really persecute someone for thought crime. Unless offcourse, the manner in which he has presented his observations, thoughts or arguments in some way violates the conditions of the forum seeing as this is a privately owned forum and there was an acceptance to terms and agreements when signing up to post here.

For us to be able to express our own thoughts, we should also afford that same right to others; and at times I do feel that Uncle Eepak gets on the short end of it. I have felt it personally on this forum at times to, and have resigned myself to going out there and living, instead of subjecting myself to endless grinding here which obviously brings very little benefit.

    3) We then have to consider if he really is diminishing the rights of others to live their lives as human beings (this debate can go on for eons so we'll stop it there), by basic rights we can just limit it to those present in the UN Charter.

    4) A lot of what he says is really unconventional in today's society, even though a lot of what he says has merits.

    5) On economics and the state of the economy. I do not think there is much collective wisdom among the posters here, to give proper solutions to the economy and I guess we should all accept that. We have our theories of what should be done, but they are nothing more but theories.

It is easy to make very simplistic and complex sounding commentary (not necessarily complex, just complex sounding), especially when most of us are not in positions where such advice is heavily relied on.

Over the past few years, I have had the pleasure to work with some of the world's most brilliant economists, business leaders and analysts and I can personally say this, it isn't easy to make sense of what is going on, but to make it clear, no one wants this misery to go on forever. People in higher places are not vengeful and they want to screw the world up, they want to solve this problem and are by no means putting on stupid charades just for the sake of stuffing it up.

I personally believe that the time for human civilization to focus more on tolerance, humility and acceptance has come. It is almost a now or never scenario and for the sake of future generations, may we not be the ones that fail them.

    That is all.

    Kind regards,
    FEND.

P.S I don't know if anyone still remembers / cares bout me here!

He most likely has ;), physically still pretty much the same, not as fit but definitely healthy!

I still haven't gotten the photos from the Comm Games 2006 from you yet!

Besides that! How have you been? I need to find an excuse to go to Singapore to do an extended work thing and then catch up with you then. Hoping to go to SG for work sometime this end year for a project I'm working on. But we'll see.

    :).

Ferrari crash reports bring fresh political scandal in China

    Posted: 04 September 2012 1527 hrs

    http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/afp_asiapacific/view/1223893/1/.html

BEIJING: China's leadership has been hit by a fresh scandal ahead of a 10-yearly power handover, with reports a close ally of the president was demoted following his son's involvement in a fatal Ferrari crash.

China said at the weekend that Ling Jihua, who has close ties to outgoing President Hu Jintao, had been removed as head of the Communist party's powerful Politburo general office and given a new, less high-profile post.

It gave no explanation for the surprise move, but a day later, the Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post, quoting unnamed sources, said Ling's son had died in a high-speed Ferrari crash in Beijing in the early hours of March 18 that also injured two young women, one of whom was naked.

Reports of the crash first surfaced in March on China's popular microblogs, along with speculation that the son of a senior Communist leader had been involved, but were quickly suppressed by the country's army of online censors.

Photographs of the wreckage were briefly circulated online, sparking questions about how the son of a government official could afford a luxury sports car worth a reported 5 million yuan (around US$800,000).

Online searches for the words "Ferrari crash" have been blocked in China ever since, underscoring the huge sensitivity of the issue ahead of the Communist party leadership handover later this year.

The latest scandal -- which many Beijing-based political commentators refused to discuss with AFP, saying it was too sensitive -- follows the downfall of former leader Bo Xilai, whose wife was last month convicted of murdering a British businessman.

Gu Kailai was found guilty of poisoning Neil Heywood after a multi-million dollar business deal went sour, in a case that raised questions over the lavish lifestyles of some of China's top leaders.

Both cases touch on the huge wealth amassed by many senior leaders in China -- a highly controversial issue in a country where tens of millions still live below the poverty line.

Many send their children to be educated abroad -- Bo Guagua, son of Gu and Bo, attended an exclusive British private school before studying at Oxford, and was also reported to have driven a Ferrari.

    - AFP/ir

(So someone said China's leadership has high IQ. Maybe in the wrong way as the above report asked the question how come many of them are so rich and able to send their children overseas to the best universities and not let them study in China's local universities?)

A frog in the best well in the world is no match for those who 'graduated' in their home wells and then enrich themselves by trying other well known wells.
This is why Chinese leaders and businessmen can speak English. Can Obama or Romney speak Chinese?

Too much 'engineering' for regime change in the middle east will also come back to haunt the US.
From the reaction in the US TV media to the Libya murder of American diplomats, the hoped for end results are not going according to plan.
Should Romney become the next president, we will find America fighting with almost everyone. 'Shoot first and aim later' may be hard to stop now, such is the mood among Americans.

Well I just watched a documentary on the sufferings of women in China.

Women are discriminated against as second class. It is bad luck to have a girl as a first-born in a one-child policy in China. There was a case of a grandmother who stuck needles into her grand daugther's skull to try to kill her so that her daughter-in-law could have another child, hopefully a boy. Unfortunately the girl survived and grew up to be a somewhat 'retarded' woman.

It is ingrained in China society that man is heaven and woman is earth or inferior. So a high percentage (about 30%) of wives have been victims of domestic violence regularly. Even the police seemed to be on the side of the husband and provide only lip service. Wives have
been beaten up brutally and humiliated in public with no justice in sight. Not only ordinary husbands resort to violence, it seems even the highly educated like scholars are also the culprits.

So a divorce would provide a way out for such women victims otherwise they may end up
being killed by their husbands or they may commit suicide.

So the Chinese leadership has the highest IQ and allow the womenfolk to be a target of domestic violence and be treated second-class?

A few days ago I watched an interview of former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan by Bloomberg's Charlie Rose on various topics from Iran to the Iraq invasion in 2003. Annan specifically said that the US hijacked the UN's Security Council resolution on Iraq and acted illegally in invading Iraq.
Loh, do you think a crime against humanity has been committed? If so what can be done to bring the culprit to justice?

Loh, I strongly advise you read this www.hudson.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=publication_details&id=9250.
Even Australia is now preparing to ditch America as the China pull is so much stronger.
Are you surprised by this from the Australian government? In the Singapore and Malaysia Chinese Hokkien saying, no more 'Aunh More Sai' in the the future.

Don't forget that China's economic rise in the global arena cannot be made possible without predominantly US and EU help. Already China is slowing and this is of great concern to the "high IQ" Chinese leadership who will now resort to pump priming to ensure that the economy continues to grow at a time that coincides with their change of top leadership.

The Chinese government has invested heavily in US an EU bonds and if these 'Ang Moh' countries fail, the Chinese will also suffer considerable damage. This is an interrelated world and no one wants to see the boat being shaken.

So you better change your tune and not boast too much of China superiority. China still has lots to learn from the West. Even Hongkongers want to demonstrate their right to make their own decisions while still under the control of China. How will high Chinese IQ help in this respect?
