Dang - can't find the video for that game (and we'd need Gill commentating on it anyway...).

I think the Wilsons are crappy :) Similar thing happend with his racket during the semi aganst LD.. The shaft let go twisted in the handle, he had to switch to a new racket.. he lost that point :p

If you dont waterproof the handle (especially with towel grip), the sweat soaks through into the wood, then its a matter of time before it breaks.

I didn't know that either. I seem to recall someone saying they apply a layer of electrical tape to the wood before applying their grips, I don't recall the reason why, perhaps it's for this reason?

Sasaki is branded head to toe in Yonex and has a Yonex bag, how come he plays with Wilson? No sponsorship conflict there?

    his racket sponsorship is Wilson...

Check out some of the other Japan players, some wear Mizuno shoes (Ueda etc) some use Wilson rackets no conflicting deals there...

If he chopped and changed between Wilson and Yonex rackets I think some eyebrows would be raised, but racket and clobber... shouldn't be a problem. The more the merrier:).

    wilson blx recon

It doesn't look like the recon BLX though.. His racket doesn't have the silver color on the shaft and the 3oclock and 9oclock positions have the same graphics on his racket, on the recon the graphics on the 3 and 9 o clock positions aren't the same.

I wouldn't blame it on the racquets in itself (not to discount defects in a bad batch). However, most of these (even us regular people), rip the original grips off and does their (our) own re-gripping, oftentimes the wood in the cone gets loosened a bit and if not properly done ends up just like what happened.
