    Hello,

I am looking for a B/C flight singles player to play one of my students as preparation for badminton season. He has improved greatly over the past year but has plenty of room to keep improving,

    High School
    Freshman - JV2
    Sophomore - Varsity 2 Singles
    Junior - Varsity 1 Singles
Senior - Will be Varsity 1 Singles

He's only a D level player but has a great ambition to become better, this is his last year playing high school badminton and wants to do his best to become ready for league finals in May.

Preferably you'd play 4 singles game against him (and preferably beat him) and give advices in regards to what his weaknesses are and what he needs to work on. As compensation you'd receive a $5 gift card as thanks. Think of it as an extra gift while playing at drop in.

We are located in San Jose so preferable it'd be at UBC, BBC3, or Bin Tang Campbell.

Please reply to this post if you're interested and we could set up a date/time.

    imadizzle,

you should bring your student to Campbell on Tuesdays. i have a group which has a couple of decent singles players he can play with. we will just play for fun and friendship. no money needed.

Yes, he is in the BVAL division training to place in top three for league finals in three months.

Kwan I may take you up on that kind offer, what time do you usually go and how crowded does it get?

If you tell me what school hes from I could get a feel of what level hes playing at because I also coach in BVAL. Playing kwun will exhaust your student but he'll learn a lot ;)

my group usually show up around 8.30pm onwards. the gym thins out around 10pm or so and there are tons of free courts for singles. i am sure there are a couple of guys who'd play against your student.

i will post back here next Monday about our schedule next week. we are usually there on Tuesdays but next week being Valentine's day that may change. will let you know

Wow, 8:30pm? That sure is late but most likely the 21st or 28th would work out best, I have my own Valentine's plans haha.

Thanks again for your response and I do look forward to meeting you and your group. I have heard of you Kwun, I believe you're the founder of BadmintonCentral? I've been going on your website since the beginning of 2004. Great job on making it so popular!

wow. Piedmont Hills produced quite a few good players over the years. a couple of graduates ended up in my company and playing for my company's team.

how long have you been the coach there?

should be fun! we will connect next week to arrange then. talk then!

Haha, we do have a few, I'm afraid I don't know if we'll have anymore good players though in the long run (losing a lot of great players). I actually stopped coaching after the 2010 season.

James is my neighbor and I've been privately coaching him on the side since he was a freshman. Thought I'd make his last three months of high school badminton worthwhile.

I will see you soon Kwun!

My kid would love to join also. She's off from school in week of 20th. She can play James among other good players there.

This always happens in every sport. If you think about the level of players as a pyramid there are many good players on the bottom and fewer strong players at the top. There gets to be a point where practicing among the same skill level becomes difficult because of the fewer skilled players in the player pool. At that point dedicated elite practices need to be set up. This is probably easier in badminton especially in the bay area, however it helps to set up dedicated elite teams which is one area the local gyms like to focus on. In the south bay I think there are a lot of A/B level players at CBA.

My kid has training this coming Tuesday 6-8 p.m. If she'd have Singles games, I'll take her there before 10:00 p.m. So would there be games this Tuesday night? Kwun/Alex?
