Are the U-shaped grommets from here durable? (would it crack easily if I mishit sometimes?)

    http://www.mybadmintonstore.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=241

    ALSO,

I was thinking for taking out all the regular circular single grommets on my Yonex VT-60 out and replace with those generic U-shaped grommets from MyBadmintonStore.

What factors would affect the racket if all the grommets are U-shaped?
(I was thinking maybe the racket should be more powerful since have a racket with ALL U-shaped grommets should give that YONEX MusclePower strip affect by having all the strings in an "Arc" position.

Last question would be I just bought some Hi-Qua Grommet protection pads for my ArcSaber 5DX (strung with BG-66 Ultimax at 26lbs)

Should I install the Hi-Qua Grommet pads on all the paired grommets? If not, which position should I install it?

Also, after installing the Hi-Qua Grommet pads, what factors would my racket change?
(I know the weight balance will change a little, but since the Arc 5DX is only a little head heavy, I don't think it will make much different. Also the Arc 5DX's -DX FRAME is already pretty thick, I don't think it will cause too much air drag. I could be wrong though, please let me know)

    Please let me know, thanks.

Will do Kwun I already ordered the U-shaped regular length grommets 50pcs from MBS

I will probably experiment with having all U-shaped grommets except for the ones at 11 to 1 o'clock, which I will leave the original single grommets.

I have to wait until it ships to Canada, urg... 3 weeks minimum lol.

They are pretty durable. Been using them for some years now and only have had to replace a few.

I have 5 on the top and 6 on the bottom of the frame.

    1. If you intend to apply these YY original grommets in your VT-60, then I think it would be advisable to refer to these links =

    http://shuttle-house.com/page_top_JAPANESE/MAIL_ORDER/Meker_Catalog/12_YONEX_B/MIDDLE/P064.html

From the above link (see the bottom part thereof), YY recommends the following grommets =

    - AC416W
    http://shuttle-house.com/new-cgi/item_cart-en.php?mk=YONEX&lan=C&hid=AC416W

    - AC416W-2
    http://shuttle-house.com/new-cgi/item_cart-en.php?mk=YONEX&lan=C&hid=AC416W-2

    http://www.mybadmintonstore.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=1174

    - AC416L-4
    http://shuttle-house.com/new-cgi/item_cart-en.php?mk=YONEX&lan=C&hid=AC416L-4

    2. I have been using these grommets in my VT-70. It is useful (A) if you want to string the racket at high tension since it can prevent the grommets from being cracked, and (B) it would also retain the string from loosing its tension.

    3. The product you referred above is MBS U-shaped grommets, and it can only be used to replace the single grommets located at the lower section of the racket's frame. This product cannot be used to replace all the regular circular single grommets in your VT60 frame.

    4. I know nothing about Hi-Qua protection grommet for your Arc 5DX. So I can't answer your queries.

    5. I once applied and put YY AC416 W-3 over the whole frame of my Carbonex 35.
My CAB35 became more head heavier, and I had to adjust my feeling to control the racket.

IMHO - I dont think these grommets would increase the power output of a racket. Power would derived from its main source, i.e., its owner's hand and muscle. :D

@phandrew : I think the U-shape grommets link attached by mms6a are different products with the grommets being used in your racket :D

    Thanks for the info

I have just ordered 8 strips of Yonex 6 grommets continuous strips from MyBadmintonStore.

I was wondering if I can use all 8 strips of the continuous grommet stripes on my VT-60.

I will also be using 4 U-shaped generic grommets from MBS at 12 o'clock

    Have anybody done this before?

    Hahahaha.... your welcome dude

I did buy the same grommets from MBS. 2 sets of AC416-L4 and 4 sets of AC416-W2

I did have the similar idea with my VT-70, and the results were only (A) 2 pcs of AC416-L4, and (B) 6 pcs of AC416-W2, that can be inserted in my VT-70's' frame.

Therefore, I dont think you can use all 8 strips of continuous grommets in your VT60.

This is because the space between the grommets' hole within the frame is different with the range of the grommets' feet.

    IMO.

Nevertheless, I did replace all of the singular grommets of Carbonex 35 with all of the U-shaped grommets, i.e., 2 pcs of AC416-W ++ 2 pcs of AC416-L3 ++ lots of AC416-W3 (I didn't remember the total amount that were being used in CAB 35) :D
