let's hope the Indonesian Juniors do their best in this year to catch up with Taufik's performance.. otherwise, i think it's still better to just sent him, although it will be difficult if Taufik is against LCW or LD..

Taufik 'upset' over Indonesia badminton slump

Taufik 'upset' over Indonesia badminton slump

AFP, Thu Jun 9, 4:14 am ET

JAKARTA (AFP) – Ex-Olympic badminton champion Taufik Hidayat has slammed Indonesia's men over their dire showing at the Sudirman Cup, with one top official to call for an "urgent" fix, a report said Thursday.

An angry Taufik lashed out after the men managed just one singles win at the world mixed-teams championship held last month in China, only a year away from the 2012 London Olympics.

"The young players did not show the fighting spirit during the Sudirman Cup, and I?m upset," Taufik said, according to the Jakarta Globe.

"Can you tell me which Indonesian is in the top 10 ranking besides me? I really hope somebody can replace me once the Olympics come along."

Taufik skill and game plan is still the best. Look at how the young Chen Yuekun simply had no answer. You have to possess good speed and power to defeat Taufik, not with skills.

hidayat as the no.1 seed in LiNing SO 2011, has been defeated by Wang ZhengMing (non seeded player) .. a bad start before Indonesia Premier SS
really, compared to Gade as another veteran yet even older than him, his consistency is too dissappointing
while he's showing generous support for his junior, I hope he still display a true fighting spirit that'll inspire his junior even further

Hidayat fought back from a set down against Wang but his defence proved unable to cope with the heavy-hitting Chinese, who ran away with the decider to take it 21-16, 20-22, 21-13.
The upset ends a stormy tournament for the volatile Hidayat, who had slammed Indonesian media coverage after he did not attend a pre-tournament press conference.
"Today I played very badly," he said afterwards. "I think tomorrow I'll go back to Indonesia and prepare for (next week's) Indonesian Super Series."

Sadly, Taufik lost to Peter Gade in the quarters at this year's IO SSP. :(
Some of his recent remarks and interviews have got me thinking:
perhaps he is thinking of retiring even before the OG next year. Perhaps by the end of this year.
I just hope I am very wrong!!! :(

As long as he is enjoy it, should be ok. He should be one of the president candidate to be Players Association if they set one up. To take care of the well being of other players. ;)

The matches between PG and TH are very tight last time. It's sadly TH lost, but PG was probly the better in that match.
However, when I see the final of PG against LCW, I have the strong feeling TH could do more against LCW than PG did, no?
(I don't think TH could win of LCW, he is in a incredible shape at this time!!)

LCW was really playing with PG, which I don't see that happen with TH? Maybe TH can better handle the style of LCW than PG can?
