Susilo played impressively! Congrats to Ronald. And Lin Dan was really exhausted by Ronald's drops and back hand hits! And Lin Dan made so many mistakes!

P Gade seems to perform so-so when he announces beforehand that his fitness is at his top level.

But without Lin Dan now it's good news for everybody else. The field has opened up just a little. :)

I think my favourte player Wong Choon Han will have a clear path to the final now ... he consistently beat Taufik and Gade in recent times...

    hmmm

Lin dan seems to be abit off form.. could be due to him not getting used to the court.. he made quite a few unforced errors which caused him his last matchpoint, Ronald on e otherhand was consistent in returning lin's shots and his tactic was to move lin dan around the court, ronald smashed fewer this time and kept returning high shots to let lin dan smash to tire him out.Lin's smashes were very powerful but ronald kept returning them , however it seems to me that ronald was the one who was more worn out then lin dan as he was made to reach for every shuttle by lin dan's cross court and powerful smashes. A classic game with long rallies.. A game that should be remembered.

True, that's sad, he's such a brilliant player, maybe he knows that this is his only chance and made it even under pressure. He started the game really slow, it's like not Lin Dan playing, and when he tried harder, he made errors ...

Anyone can win MS now ... the competition just started ...

Yes- well done, Susilo. A goodwin for him and badminton in general in that it throws up more excitement rather than having a first seed going thru according to the seedings.
I actually like Lin Dan's games genarally but I totally dislike his unnecessary on-court antics such as pissing off his opponents (nearly every match) by refusing to change shuttles. So I am not sorry to see his back. Anyway I think that Susilo deserve to win this game as he is the more hardworking, consistent player, making less errros.

I guess Susilo's next challenge will come from Lee Hyun Il or Ponsana Boonsak.

I wonder if Lin Dan took off his shirt and gave his usual salute to LYB after his loss. :)

Only if Susilo meets Chen Hong in the final, he must really formulate a strategy to break the bad spell. As you all know Susilo had never beaten Chen Hong at all.
He said before this first round game, he had some surprises for Lin Dan, and indeed he delivered.

If I were you, I wouldn't count the chickens before they are hatched. To say so emphatically that Peter Gade has NO OPPOSITION NOW is to dismiss the other higher ranked players in his half.

Even Ronald Susilo should have a chance to beat Peter if they should meet later. Why? Ronald has NOW beaten Lin and Lin in turn has beaten Peter. So where is the guarantee that Peter cannot be beaten? ;)
