It's not just that really, half the Aussie team wasn't there either, anyone who had to compete in the first few days was told that it was preferred that they did not march since it was going to be really hot and they have to mill around for an hour or so for their time to parade, which could be detrimental to their performance. Of course if they wanted to march they still could, however most of those told not to didn't.

Bob Costas actually mentioned badminton twice that I heard: once, saying that the Danes ruled European badminton, and second, that Indonesia almost wasn't going to see any badminton because there wasn't going to be any coverage of the Olympics there until a cable company finally picked it up. As part of one of those comments, he also said there would be extensive coverage of the sport.

I could be wrong, but I got the impression he doesn't know much about the sport.

not sure if NBC has the same camera angles as others, but i went through frame by frame and i couldn't spot any badminton players. there was one lady that could look a tiny little bit like HS but it wasn't her...

I thought I saw Huang Sui, and Camilla Martin as well.

I dunno, if I were an Olympian, I don't think I'd miss the opening ceremonies just for an extra bit of practise, a bit too late imo. Practise in the morning, and enjoy yourself in the afternoon/evening during the ceremonies!

huang sui was there?? well, an article from sina online posted the chinese teams who were at the opening ceremony. such as the tennis team, basketball team, etc. they didnt mention the badminton team at all. maybe huang sui was only the few badminton players who were at the ceremony. i still think most of the shuttlers were not at the ceremony.
