I've never used a PU grip. What is it? I'm a newb. I also sweat a lot. And by the time I get home from badminton, my grip has probably already absorbed the sweat. I'm looking for other grip sellers in Toronto, but I haven't found anything beyond the regular ones. Haven't looked hard enough though. And whoever suggested flipping the Yonex Supergrap 102EX around to the other side once one rips, thanks! Hopefully it'll last me until Saturday.
A PU grip is the Karakal PU grip. It is a replacement grip, where u remove the original grip and put the replacement grip on the wood directly. I have used towel grip before, in fact I buy a big roll of it. Just that towel grip dry n harden very fast if u sweat alot. Try the wrist band first. Anyway u can always wear one each on ur wrist. One for wiping ur sweat and the other for prevent the sweat from going to ur grip
Oh yes I've heard of that grip. I wanted to buy it to try out, but every badminton related store I went to doesn't have it. I'm in Toronto though, so it's not like there's a huge selection, but no store stocks Karakal. The guy at Yo's told me to try some squash stores, and I have no idea where to find them. I will get back to you tomorrow if the wrist band words. Found one that says Kinect for XBOX 360. How fun.
This is where I come in. Hi, I have a badminton store of my own. I am based in California but I also do international business. I know that Karakal Super PU are very hard to come by, which is why I stock them in my store, for a good price, $2.50 each. PM me your address, or send it to ggbaddy(at)gmail.com and I'll send you a pair of them to try out for free, and if you like them, you can buy more from me. If there are concerns with legitimacy, there are several people here on these forums I can refer you to that can vouch for me.
in SG, queensway shopping centre have quite alot. AMK's Chris definitely have it as well. Artic Sports should have them too.
Alot of place actually have....queensway s.c, sengkang sports hall badminton shop, chris's shop, etc....but it's a matter of pricing and availability of colours end of the day....heheh....u will realise most of the shops run out of white colour grips pretty fast....haha Actually have been hearing so much abt rkep grips, but wondering why no badminton shops in Sg import in and sell lehz? It's so much cheaper compared to karakal and if the quality is as good, then definitely got a market in Sg
Yonex super grap white, without wrist band... < 2 hours =( tried Fly Power towel grip maybe i couldnt get use without tacky feels thats y my racquet fly with power ><
I finally found a good long lasting grip. Karakal Nano 60. Good tack after my ridiculous sweat sessions, where I forgot the wrist band. And best of all, it doesn't tear where my thumb rests. Very thick though, but still very recommended to at least try. I have to find better colours! Super PU was starting to become felt-like from my sweat and the thumb rubbing, so I overlapped with the Nano 60. It's lasted a good three weeks with decent tack, so I guess I need to find the store again and buy more.
I generally use Yonex Super Graps and Tourna Tacs. The Tourna Tacs last me much longer than the Graps though. I play around 6 times a week, minimum of 2 hours per session, sometimes more than 5 hours on days where I feel like it. My grip lasts me over 2 weeks. Though of course, they lose their initial tack real quick. My hands don't sweat, but the grip just starts to peel lol.
I use white Yonex Super Graps or Mesh Graps. I change them when they look dirty...so maybe 3-4 weeks.
I have to change my Yonex Strong Grap every 2 weeks or so... Once it loses it's tackiness... I have to switch because I can't get a good handle on my racquet and I don't want it to come flying off my hand LOL
i use the karakal super pu grips.... play about 2x a week 2 hrs per session lasts me for 2 months +.. and gets more tackier the longer i use it... normally have to change it bcoz the color changes..
Update...using Yonex Supergrap and RKEP G09 Elite overgrips. Now changing it every 2 weeks. Cuz it looks dirty and it loses some tackiness.
My Yonex Hi Soft Grap usually lasts over a month because it's quite thick and I don't mind playing with a worn grip too much.
I think the question should be how many hours of usage does your grip last. For me overgrip is 8sessions of 2hrs.
