    No big surprise.

Taufik has always lost to BCL, CJ and LD since 2007?

It s called lack of self belief.

no surprise at all. TH hadn't beat BCL since 2006. BCL was never afraid of TH, even when he was in top form.

    haha, interesting.

BCL does have a very impressive head-to-head record against Taufik. The head-to-head record is 8-2 in favor of BCL. The last time they meet is SSF 2009 which is won by BCL and it is not included in the H2H record.

Chinese news reported that Bao CL leads head to head against Taufik:

    Bao CL : Taufik = 9 : 2

So there is no surprise. If the result were the other way, then it would be a big surprise.

Taufik only won 2 in Indonesia, while Bao has won against Taufik not only in Indonesia (beat Taufik in Taufik's territory), but also all the other places, World championship, Japan open twice, China, Swiss, Denmark,....

checking the head to head records for Taufik against Bao CL, CHen Jin, Lin Dan, it's clear that all those records are one sided dominated by Chinese players. Taufik holds very terrible results against Chinese players.

    Head to head:
    Taufik : Bao CL = 2 : 9
    Taufik : Chen Jin = 0 : 3 (since June 1, 2007)
    Taufik : Lin Dan = 3 : 8

    Total
    Taufik : Chinese Trio = 5 : 20

While ago, I saw a public show between Taufik and Chinese new rising star Tago. In the show, Tago asked Taufik how to beat Chinese players. Tago said, Taufik's so good at beating Chinese players, and whether it's true as people said that Taufik's training has been concentrated on beating Chinese players. Tago said Taufik is the only player can beat Chinese player no matther it's Olympic, World Champion or open tournaments.

Taufik said: Chinese player have never showed any better than other players, the only difference is that Chinese players are more eager to win, and just because this, I(Taufik) beat them.

Well, check the head to head records, all facts Tago and Taufik mentioned sounded not true to me. Taufik did win the Olympic, but he won it without playing any Chinese players.

When looking at the records, we should remember that Taufik is half generation off from BCL and LD, and an even bigger gap off from CJ.

TH was at his career zenith when he totally destroyed LD at the '05 Worlds. At this point, TH's record against any top flight players will only get worse.

It's not his fault that the CHN players lost even before the SF stage at the Athens Olympics 2004.

Nevertheless, let's not forget the opponents that Taufik beat en-route to the World Championships 2005 (Lin Dan) and Asian Games 2006 Individual Event (Bao Chunlai, Lee Chong Wei, and Lin Dan) titles.

Let's also not forget that Taufik holds a superior record against Chen Hong (the main nemesis during his prime time).
