Choong Tan Fook and Lee Wan Wah had clinced the No. 2 spot and is now ahead No.3 Cai Yun and Fu Hai Feng and No.4 Ha Tae-Kwon and Kim Dong Moon. I hope they can attain greater heights and go beyond their 2000 Olympic Semi-Finals. They managed to regain their form and won the Malaysian Open and All-England (Supposedly). In their route to the final, they beat Candra Wijaya and Flandi Limpele with a 15-0 thrashing in the rubber set and defeated Alven Yulianto and Luluk Hadiyanto. But after beating top seeds Lars Passke and Jonas Rasmussen and Cai Yun and Fu Hai Feng in the quater-final and semi-finals, they eventually lost to Jens Eriken and Ljungaard Hansen in the final which ended with many disputes and doubts. Other than that , they reached the finals of the China and Korea Open last year and also the semi-finals of the Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore Opens. I watched them play in Singapore and unfortunately they lost to Lars and Jonas in a gruelling semi-final. I meant no offence but I think that only the top 4 doubles could pose a problem to them. Thus I strongly believe that they can bring in a medal for Malaysia
Choong and Lee are fast and the furious duo. IMHO, they deserve the ranking, and perhaps the number 1 pair soon.
IMHO, it does not mean much. The important thing is to get a top 4 seeding for the Olympics. I think they have been no.2 in the world back in 1999. That time they won German, Dutch and S'pore Open almost consecutively. Why top 4 seeding? Because there is not much difference between these pairs. They can all win or lose to each other depending on the day itself. So the important thing is to maximise the chances of getting an Olympic medal. I would dearly love to see them pick up a medal since M'sia is almost like a second home to me. Then again, I also support China since I am Chinese. And then Jonas is our friend and a great guy as well! Sometimes life can be difficult as a supporter
"You can't judge a book by it's cover"... Although Cai Yun and Fu Hai Feng dropped to no. 2, but they are still young... Many chances more... Gambate for Cai Yun ang Fu Hai Feng.... As well as Choong Tan Fook ang Lee Wan Wah since I'm a Malaysian... "JIA YOU"!!!!!!!
this is such a cool and hillarious picture. everyone looks so funny and cute. just cant get enuf of it. great pic!
Good to hear that. Watching them played against the INA young pairs at TC2004 quarter finals, it is obvious Lee/Chong are getting stronger and stronger. Somehow I always feel their styles are very different from other doubles pairs but I cannot tell exactly what it is,.....it seems they always force their opponents to drive. I like to see them becoming World No 1 before their retirement.
i believe that they have a renewed confidence in their own and each others ability. i agree with chibe_K that there is something different in their game. i feel they have changed their approach and attitude to the game, and that too many of their opponents have failed to adjust their tactics and strategy in facing this new style of CTF/LWW or maybe are totaly unaware of such a change. once again, this is just my opinion.
yeah their ranking improved after their tremendous performance in malaysia open.... overtaking Cai / Fu.... Congrats
I quite agree the 4 pairs can pass around their hats and beat one another. It is like musical chair game. Everyone pair of them have a chance. It is only who is more fast and furious, and the mental strengths.
