oh .... oops had a game there last week and i saw a player at another court put them on for a game .... i just couldn't stop staring at his shoes, felt kinda like a pervert.
You are pretty safe to do the same by going half size smaller for Wave Smash Wide. My SHB-101 is 27.5 (US9.5) while Wave Smash Wide is 27 (US9).
Badminton shoe fetish? These wave smash wide will probably only fit men so you will not have any problems of boyfriends or husbands running at you with a parang .
For sizing, I went for the same size as my wave smash SG which happen to be the same size as my wave gate. The wide is just wider but not longer. OTOH, if you have been compensating for width by buying a bigger shoe, you might need a smaller size. I did when I got my first 3E mizuno (from a 2E Yonex).
Formerly 99LTD, but very shortly Victor SH8600Ace - 99LTD allows too much sideways movement inside the shoe as it ages, and I've been reliably informed by the Dinkster that Victor's version of the "lateral claw" is the best there is. Also, the 8600Ace looks cool (which might be the reason I bought them, thinking about it...), and I'm built like Jung Jae Sung (except I'm six foot rather than four foot nine).
Vibram FiveFingers http://www.vibramfivefingers.com/products/Five-Fingers-KSO-Mens.htm I used those for 4 or 5 games... I felt like I could fly. My friend kept telling me i'm going to sprain my ankle... I don't see why because I really have no elevation (or shoe soles) to sprain. That said... since it is first time I used it for badminton... big toe got sore cuz I didn't wear socks. No blister tho Don't know if I will continue using this. Probably never on a concrete/cement court Still in my ownership: Yonex SHB 79w: (sole almost gone... i should really just kill this pair first) Mizuno Wave Smash S2 Fit: I gave up on this. It feels snug but the sole isn't wide enough and I tend to twist my ankle on it. Still looks nice... rubber sole is like 80% still there... probably end up donating it Nike Multicourt 9 Men's Racquetball: Still brand new... still at least 95% life left
This is my gear. Just bought the Mizuno last X'mas during sales. the Asics is celebrating its 1st anniversary. I like the Asics, because the cushion is more comfortable than Mizuno. Opps.... the last one should be a basketball shoes. NIKE Kobe Dream season2.
Amourace, how does your Kobe shoes play? Is it as comfy as badminton shoes? I'm planning to get one for my newbie brother for badminton. Thanks.
I have just started wearing the Asics Gel Blast and they are a very good badminton shoe. Formerly used Yonex SHB 45
I switch between Li-Ning's and Yonex.., will look up Mizuno Wave and see what you are referring to. Its hard to get court shoes here in the US.
Hi Barca ! I'm back from my Japan trip, and i managed to drop by a Mizuno store in Ochanomizu, Japan. This particular 'store' is a actually a building spanning 7 floors packed with anything and everything Mizuno has to offer. (i was like a kid in a candy store) I came across the Wave Smash Wide 2, and i also saw the Wave Fang Pro too. Sadly, the Wave Smash Wide 2 sold in the store was also 'Made in China'. (see last pic of the shoe's tongue below) I did ask the staff there why wasn't it supposedly 'Made in Japan', and he said that ALL of Mizuno's badminton stuff are made by the official Mizuno factory in China. I also did tell him that certain online websites were selling the same shoes for a much cheaper price, as compared to their store's. He could only give me a wry smile and said he cannot comment. (he did hint that perhaps there was a difference in final product quality, but he stopped short of giving any more details) Anyways, i cant do a comparison as i dont have a pair of 'online' Wave Smash Wide's, so maybe you could do a visual comparison with the pictures below and see if there are any differences between the two. Thanks a bunch !
