..imo, it's not so much abt LCW skipping some SS. In fact, he skipped the Denmark and France Open SS prior to the AG to prepare. Yet, he still can't get over the hump. Perhaps partly because he's just not good enough against a motivated LD (throwing all the injury/illness excuses, he suffered, aside)..
    off topic:
    - If it's only MS, yes, no player has won 2 OG Golds.
    - Besides ZJ, GL and ZN, don't forget Kim Dong Moon, Ge Fei and Gu Jun..;)

I know you meant in MS, noone has won 2X OLY gold. IMO, LD is still playing today just for OLY12. I think you may want to edit your post to "come OLY12, there is still no player to challenge LD for gold" and that is enough to motivate him to go for it.
LCW is one yr older than LD, PG is an old daddy, INA team antique collector items, KOR one lone giant, only challenge is LCW and CJ (yes, CJ and if CJ-LD final, free for all, can go either way though LD would be favoured.
If LD wins OLY12 gold, I bet he will look back, how he screwed up OLY2004 when he was WR1 and got KO in the first round. Had he won that, he shoulda woulda but not coulda, that would make it 3 golden cookies;)

Let us (Singapore) help. We will dig out Ronald Susilo -- the only man who have beaten LD in the Olympics. It's ironic that LCW beat him in OG2008 but nevermind. Let bygones be bygones. Let RS meet LD (whichever stage) and deny him OG2012 once again!! :D :D :D

Ok.. I obviously meant the above as a joke... just felt the need to inject humour into this thread.

Does the score really matter. I think the duration of the matches is what indicate the effort.

p.s: I feel sorry for your kids.

If LD did not push the hand break in the 2nd set, the match would not went to rubber set. And the match does not have to took 72 minutes to be ended.

p.s: You can say anything you wants, grandpa.

dato, lin dan didn't brought a hand brake

and he let it go purposely after lcw was too far in front in the 2nd set.

same with lcw in the 1st set.

both players knew neither one can win by straight sets.

they observed each other play in earlier rounds

and both of them has already assessed each other.

if you go back and see the 2nd set about 16 points or so you can see very clearly.

in the 3rd set lcw just couldn't break in that's why he lost.

it was a close match really, not with the score but the number of rallies,

that's why it was over an hour.

    a mind game really.

    Great analytical of match.

When my mom read newspaper a day after the match during her breakfast with her hubby at a kopi-tiam near her house, she's not shocked of the lost of DLCW against LD.

Mom : '' Lee lost against LD yesterday.''
Daddy : '' Aiyah, he cannot win LD one lah..''
Mom : '' But da Lee is world's No. 1 woh, how come cannot win over LD?''
Daddy : '' correct oso lah. World's No.1 supposed the best what. Nicole WR No.1 and she is unbeatable. But why in badminton sport WR No.1 is different leh?''
Kopitiam Boss: '' Cannot said like that one. I watched the match. It is very good match. Lee put great effort and 'all out' in that game ah. Summore ah, u cannot blame Lee lah. He was injured before AG start, so ah less training. Then hoh, he gets fever and laosai at GZ and he lost to the thailand-zai in the team event.''
Daddy : '' Aiyoh, why everytime big tourney oso injured one. Lost matches also said because of injured. Very sueh leh''.
Kopitiam Boss :'' Yalor. I dont see LD said he is injured after he lost matches. And hoh, semi-final hoh Lee play 3 games oh with Chen Jin. So ah, he lost stamina lah. Final game he cannot play loh because run out of gas oledi. Summore he injured again woh at that match, finger loh. ''
Daddy: '' I heard he is Energizer woh. 1 day training ah start as earlier as the sun still sleep woh. How come 1-2 matches also cannot tahan, out of gas oledi? Play SS he also have to play tough game what. Y still able to win matches by matches, tourney by tourney?''
Customer A:'' SS win can accumulate points. So he can stayed in No. 1 position and gets allowances + bonus mah. Kaw-kaw one ah..
Kopitiam Boss :'' Not like that one. You see ah that match between LD ah, Lee gave everything and bla bla bla.......
Mom :'' Hey Ah Lim ! (Kopitian boss name) Dont talk so much lah. Lee already lost. How great he puts effort he is still lost. Talk also no use. Where's my kopi-0-kaw??
