damn #1 : that means something else is slowing me down. damn #2 : now i have no excuse renting that ass kicking dual 2.8GHz Xeon for BC/F/R/A in place of our current lowly 1.7GHz celeron. oh well..
It's slower than dirt here ! You HAVE to upgrade the server ! Now that I'm already here - is just me who can't find it, or is there no racket review listing on this site ? What I would really like is a listing of a as many different rackets as possible, with the data that you don't easily get at on the manufacturers sites. Things like weight, grip size, length etc. are usually posted there, but not the recommended range of tension, head light/heavy or balanced etc. keep up the very good work (provided, of course that you upgrade the server ) hatecapletters
At the very top of this page, you'll see four images of players. Under #3 it says "Reviews"... Try it out!
yeah. from what i can tell. the 1.7G celeron server is holding up pretty well. i have been looking at the server load and it hardly every go beyond .75 even with 50-60 online users. and we hardly go over that unless it comes to tournament time. we will have to wait for the time when there are 100+ users online regularly then we can start looking into faster solutions. when that time comes, we will know that badminton is truely starting to become very popular!
adware, worms and viruses can slow you down You should check for adware, worms and viruses. Most of all you should check for BHO (Browser Helper Objects). BHO's are loaded everytime you run IE and the bad one can really slow down your machine (100% CPU usage for EXPLORER.EXE).
more bandwidth, more ram, faster cpu, more disk space... soon i will be upgrading the server. got this deal with more bandwidth (we are at 10%), more ram (1G vs. 512M), faster CPU (2.4G celery vs. 1.7G celery) and more disk space (2x 40G disks vs. 1x 40G disk), for free! this is a case of fixing it when it is not broken, but just too good a deal to pass... maybe when Olympics time come, the extra ram and faster CPU will accomodate the expect explosion of online users!
i took delivery of the new server and it is humming along fine. most of the other sites are now migrated. at this moment, i am in the process of migrating all the BF traffic to the new server. right now the old and new are sharing half the load each and by tomorrow, the total load will be on the new server and i will be able to shut down the old one. the old server has been ultra reliable, it was last rebooted 265 days ago. ie. it has been running non-stop since the first week i got it. it has been serving BC very well. i am not sure if we will miss it though as the new one have a speedier processor and twice the memory (1GB) .
well, perhaps it's a good idea to keep the old one as the back-up server? (especially it won't be much if you decided to sell it...back-up is a good thing and good option to have if money is not a problem)
these are rented servers. i don't own the hardware, that would be too much money. as a result, i will have to cancel the old server. as for backup. the new server have two disks. i am planning to have daily backup of all data into the secondary disk. another reason why the new server is so cool...
