And this is one good reason why Sony is now ranked higher than he is and is improving in all levels. I hope he doesn't turn out into something like Taufik, it'd be a waste.

Joko, I saw him on the webcast TV2 when they panned the camera to the Indonesian camp, he sat there with someone I do not know. Is he the only singles coach?

Joko one of the best players??? Come on now! He never was really an excellent player during his time. I remember one year at the All England finals, he was clobbered by the great Zhoa Jian Hua. Jian Hua was such a talented player but unfortunately he was also very erratic as well. Yang Yang was more dependable. I still remember during the 80's , most of the 5 star tournments semi-finalists were 1) Yang Yang 2)Zhoa Jian Hua 3) Morten Frost Hansen 4) Icuk Sugiarto

I think Morten Frost had the best footwork and good courtcraft. A real thinking player. One tournment he beat Icuk 15-0. ( Although an injured Icuk)

During that era the doubles was dominated by 1) Park-Kim 2) Li-Tian 3) Razif-Jalani 4) Cant remember Indon pair name. Park- Kim were excellent.

    Eddy Hartono-Rudy Gunawan? ;)
One big guy, one thin guy. They're GOOD!

This foursome dominated doubles during then, one each from each powerhouse country.

Ricky & Rexy. They really rocked the doubles world. Remember those days in doubles when the opponents keeps smashing and Ricky & Rexy's superb backhand lifts to the rear court. Wonderfull rallies :)

It is not fair to compare Zhao Jianhua with Joko Suprianto, as they were from different periods. I am sure Lin Dan was clobbered by many senior players two or three years back in time. Joko succeeded Zhao. It might surprise you, Joko was indeed quite a great player. He was the World champion in 1993 as well as twice World Grand Prix champion, in 1993 and 1995, just like Zhao in 1988 and 1991.

Fact is when Joko was first released by PBSI in 1987/88

he beat Zhao 3 times in 3 tours.

Zhao only managed to beat him in the 1988 Asia Cup in China

    and then 1990 AE.

Serious? Rudy Hartono, yes, but Rudy Gunawan? Wow, two ex Indonesian legends doing church work.

The last time I heard, Rexy is in the UK training the English team. Still valid?

I don't know wat happened to Ricky Subagja but I know about Rexy Mainaky. Rexy is the national coach for England. I think Rexy is just a doubles coach. Man I enjoyed watching Ricky & Rexy. I enjoyed when Indonesians dominated badminton. I love chinese badminton players as well. My first ever badminton hero was Yang Yang. I started playing badminton after I watched a match between Yang Yang and Ardy Wiranta. I think it was Indonesian Open. Ardy was very very young at that time. I think he was 18 or something. :)

Gunawan was always complaining that people gave him an extra first name

Rudy, his name is simply Gunawan.

Saw Ricky in the Jkarta Thomas Cup amongst spectators.

Incidently during T cp ex-players like Hartono, Liem Swie King, Huang Hua etc held exhibition matches, anyone care to tell us what transpired?

The Korean woman was Bang, Soohyun. She beat her at the Olympics in Barcelona 1996 in the finals and won the Gold medal. She is now married. The last time I saw her she was commentator for a Korean TV. At this year's Korea Open.

just wondering why Zhao JH never thought abt involving himself in couching career..such a waste, for me...used to be the BEST player in the world (of course depended on his inconsistancy form again;) )

Miss the way he played so much (cross court smashing, excellent net play, and unpredicted tricky shot and his famous funny face reaction  )

does anyone think that Lin Dan has a bit of his "shadow"??

anyone, has his court playing photos??
