Spain leads 1 goal to none at the 72 minutes marker by David Villa:cool:!

Well I predicted the right winners, but was a lil too optimistic about goals...
Only 1 goal today, by Villa (already 4 goals !!), shootouts for the Par vs Jap..

Could have sworn Villa was offside but they hardly showed any replays let alone the one with the line drawn. Thought I heard it mentioned during post match discussion on tv as well ... starting my investigation now ;).
Already reading it was in one report ...

Well on that one he's clearly offside but is this the right one at the right moment ?

Yes that is the right play and the second, newer, picture is the exact moment. Maybe there hasn't been a big deal about it yet as Spain deserved to win.

Actually I'm surprised they did not noticed that on TV while they always complain about the umpires...

They seem to be occupied discussing the red card more :D. Actually I was glad to see that guy sent off, was being a d*ck for a long time already.

    From a live report:

There is just a slight doubt over whether David Villa was onside from Xavi's flick, but maybe the assistant just wanted to see Portugal come out and play?

Don't see much mention of the offside anywhere in the early reports but I'm sure tomorrow it will change (cost me my friggin points again as well ). Look at the position of the linesman  ...

Exactly, he's in the wrong position. Oh well two free days coming up, the two "blundering" referees are being sent home eventhough it's their linesman that were at fault ... can't wait for EURO 2010 . Just a small matter of Brazil v Netherlands and Argentina v Germany first :p. Too bad they are the early matches again ...

I remember watching the game on tv and they replayed the goal and said Villa was onside...

Darn! Now the alternate plan as usual :p for World Cups - switching alliance to Brasil, since it's same spoken language :D

I think Queiroz is a great manager and coach for youth levels. At senior level he has not achieved much success yet!

Penalty shoot out is fun to watch though sometimes. But not yesterday. My heart was with Japan yesterday actually. IMo, they had already tried their very best to attack and defend whole heartly. But that's football. At this crucial stage. There will be a winner and a loser. But i can feel it for Japan this time. [IMG][IMG] pity them.. LOSING cruelly in a penalty shoot out.[IMG].
