i was training on Saturday morning and for part of our warm up our coach made us lunge across 5 courts. after this we started to do speed training and my legs felt like rubber and then became VERY sore. Is there anyway to stop this from happening as it slows me down and am hardly able to play.
What type of pain? (Dull/sharp) Where? (Thigh & Calf isn't specific - back, front, joints, tendons, muscle, bone?) Throw us a bone!
its a dull continuous pain in the back muscles of my thigh up to my glutes (still hurts now even after a hot bath) not so much my calfs anymore.
gets worse when stretching hurts especially when i walk up and down the stairs but is fine when im sitting still.
I think it will go away after a few days lol. Happened to me too. Hurts to walk, sit down, etc. But then it disappears as time goes on.
If it gets worse when stretching, you have probably pulled them or over exerted them. It is a good sign if the pain is so well spread, since you are using more of your muscles for the one exercise (much better than putting a lot of the pressure on one part). Defintiely rest, maybe a week or two, then take it easy. Build up slowly.
Sounds like you over did my friend. Gradual steps are needed to increase physical performance. People often train too hard or over exert themselves. Rest is often the best medicine.
