i dont think it has anything to with being more individualistic, i think they did it because, if Gade lost to Boesen for an example, like the chinese could have done, the chinese could have said that why complain about we doing it when you self are doing the same thing.
Park Tae Sang & Boesen You're right~ hcyong By Korean sports newspaper, Park Tae Sang is 16th and he will get Olympics ticket. Park got 2187.35 points, while Boesen got 2183.27 point. only 4.08point gap... poor Boesen~
But he could face Taufik as early as the first round. Any seeded player could. Unless a few top seeds get a first-round bye.
I dont think Taufik can beat Gade the matches I have seen between these players on tv, Gade won them all. All England 1999, Copenhagen Masters 2003, All England 2004.
taufik beat peter in the 1999 singapore semifinals, so he can beat him -if they clash I believe that the key will be mental strength on the day or lack of it , peter may get nervous. If Taufik is fully prepared and motivated he will be hard to beat - I believe he and peter are the greatest threats to lin dan.
Yes Taufik and Gade will be big threats to Lin Dan, but in my opinion the biggest thread and perhaps the favourite will be Wong Choong Hann. Compared to Gade, Taufik and Lin Dan Wong hasn't performed well yet and I think he are going to peak at the olympics, where a player as Lin Dan perhaps has peaked months before and are lacking a bit. Wong did not play that well in the beginning of 03 but still peaked at the WC. He is my dark horse and perhaps also my bet on a winner. Others could be Taufik, Gade, Lin Dan and another chinese MS shuttler.
Patience, young man. Rankings will be released today. Then, we will know who gets invited for sure, and how many empty places remain after that.
what happened to Kevin Han of the US??? :O Go Canada, I'm interested to see how the top players will get seeded, but it seems pretty much set already. -Kelvin
The dummy list is out. Malaysia, China and Korea are the only countries with full entries for men singles. There is further joy for Malaysia as 2 MD and 1 WD have also qualified.
Dummy list : http://www.worldbadminton.net/Portal/desktopdefault.aspx?tabid=10&ItemID=1495 IBF has chosen to reallocate most of the spare slots to doubles events.
i wonder if xia still stands a chance....bao chunlai took over his position as fourth...though xia himself still says he's the strongest (from a chinese article) and the fact that bao is injured and didn't participate in the pre-olympics competition does help...
There are 4 Chinese MS players in the list, but only 3 will go to Olympic. I think Xia still has a chance. All depent on Li YB's decision. He may drop one of Lin Dan, Chen Hong or Bao Chun Lai and choose Xia XZ. Who knows.
I think Li Yongbo would pick Xia over Bao.. in terms of skills, experiences and mental strength, Xia has all the advantages... and this might be his last Olympic...
