I'm on my summer break now and I'm back in Malaysia for 2 months. I find myself addicted to badminton since I came back to Malaysia, playing at least 5 times a week. The problem now is that after a badminton session, I find myself unable to sleep and lying in bed thinking about badminton.... for lengths of up to 2-3 hours before dozing off, which would be around 3 am in the morning. Sometimes, I find myself unable to concentrate during the day and feeling sleepy, " although however sleepy I may feel, I feel fully awake once I step on the court =D, but I feel that my reaction time has been reduced somewhat." I saw that being unable to sleep is due to some kind of adrenalin rush due to the excitement of playing badminton from someone who posted above "I think", but does anyone have any idea how to calm the brain down after a game and being able to sleep well without rolling in bed for hours thinking about the game I played earlier in the day... P.S. I can't take alcohol cause im Underaged. Thanks ^^ (Yes badminton is truly affecting my life -.-)
If you have a latent badminton addiction, replacing it by alcohol addiciton maybe is not advisable. If you find yourself lying in bed unable to sleep... stop trying to sleep after half an hour or so. Read something relaxing, watch some (non-horror, non-action, non-psycho) movie, or take a hot bath.
answering your 3 questions: playing 2-3 times per week yes and no yes and no does it affect my normal life? yes!
The better question is: does your life get in the way of your badminton? *checks into rehab clinic for obsessive-compulsives*
I'm retired and very bored. My social life consists mostly slouching around on the couch watching junk on tv. I'm better off playing badminton. I play 5 nights a week, and the evening's badminton is the highlight of my day. All that's going to change soon, I'm exporting myself to Thailand and I'm hoping to get a retirement visa and live there more or less permanantly.Pattaya has 2 main badminton clubs, across the road from each other, I'll at least have the option of playing 7 days a week, if I can find the stamina for it! My social life will consist of having a beer in a gogo bar after playing and slipping dollar bills into pole dancer's thongs!
How Long is Long for You??? I haven't played in almost 3 weeks.... not good almost on the red line. I'm also wondering how long is long for not playing badminton. for me it's 2 weeks and longer... but i know some people say 3 days is long, seriously. lol
Haha when I don't play badminton at least once a week, I get irritable, short tempered, and oddly enough, irregular. I say playing once a week is the bare minimum for me. If I could, I'd spend all day, everyday, playing and training.
Kish, badminton is real life. It's the other stuff like work and shopping for groceries that is dreary.
practically.. school... work... badminton; school... work and badminton and obviously still hang out with people
not really affecting my life, but I always feel can't wait to play badminton (even though I can surpress it) can't sleep when thinking how great the match today and this forum affect me buying more badminton equipments (racket grips, shoes, etc)
To the point where I have to organize my class schedule around training times as well as I sometimes need to get midterms/finals deffered to travel to tournaments. You could say badminton is affecting my life, but I'd like to think/believe its in a good way...
I wish I was able to defer exams for tournaments... but I definitely consider whether my class schedule will interfere with my practice times too. When's the next time you're coming down to the US nick?
should be back in LA/OC this summer for US Open again, you still going to be around? haha its funny to train/attend tournaments during summer i cant do spring/summer courses so that means streching out a degree much longer.
yup. some of my coaching students are extreme fanatics... lol. It is affecting child birth. Too much badminton and not enough.. u know what... lol. Don't blame me.. blame badminton... lol. Next time, there will be taxes on badminton... lol.
i use to be a nerd that have no life and no ambitions...after knowing badminton 7months ago now i am feleing cooler~ and unable to wake up to school! and at least my ambition now is to no.1 singles player xD
