And if I remembered correctly, it was reported in a Chinese (China) newspaper that Zhu Weilun was asked by LYB to withdraw from the semi-final against Lin Dan in last year's China Open, citing injuries. The report actually quoted Zhu himslef. The other semi was between 2 non-Chinese players- Wong CH and Gade.
humm.. there's so many mystery around the chinese team in my opinion even if it's your teammate just give all what you have. Without it why play even if you are a big talent??
if reali tat is the case........ then it's no fun watching CHN vs CHN~!!! juz watch the 1st game n u will noe who the winner is
yah loh..... i don c the point of having such a rule... it's like giving ur points away to others.... n u cant show ur full potential in the tournament
The point is to not get tired (nor risk injury) when playing against a teammate, so that they can get an advantage over their opponent in the next round.
I don't see anything wrong with this. It is part of the overall strategy to achieve a set objective. Sometimes the "throwing away" of games to give your team-mates an edge is because the rules of the system actually encourage such practices, i.e. fighting for the 3rd birth in country's quest for the max 3 entrants in the Olympics. Rules are like laws. If you put them down in writing, you can "cheat" legally and boast about it.
There's still the risk of getting injured, or there might be an other tournament starting the next week... however there are effectively more chances of seeing a "real" match if the players are meeting in the final.
I agree, it's the rules that need changing to avoid this, you can't blame the Chinese for using the rules to their own advantage... To maintain spectator's interest and the credibility of badminton, IBF has to do something about it!
guess it means fight all the way for the 1st set, as it is a decider for ur winning or losing but it's reali unfair.... cos losing the 1st, can still fight back in 2nd n 3rd.... there's always a turning point somewhere.... but their rule..... hiaz
poor chinese..... My friends is in china for holidays. His uncle is a friend of Li yongbo, today he has played with some players like bao chunlai he tell me that li yongbo was very very irritate after the japan open, He shout them all the time.......poor chinese but chunlai said him that he shout always.
that li yongbo is super strict. I wonder if other countries have this kinda coach with them. They might be very good by then and perhaps might be able to make badminton a more competitive game in every categories, in order to challenge the chinese especially in the women's category. I mean, look at malaysia, I always hear critics saying that their players are not discpline enough...always fooling around and stuff. Is Misbun and Yap Kim Hock as strict as Li Yongbo? I doubt it.
no doubts tat LI Yongbo is very strict on the players.... but being strict isn't a bad thing... tat's y they have so good results n high world ranking rite?
