very interesting with the strip grommet....dont know what the benefit are ? I am sure this concept has been used before (cant be that successfl because none of us are talking about it).

Tommy, how did you get the picture , are you working in the R&D lab for Carlton , and are they base in the UK , I know Dunlops are?

For the strip grommets, at high tensions you reduce the chance of the string biting into the graphite and damaging the racket.

Hrm, interesting. Not sure exactly what the point is, but not having holes will make the frame significantly stronger.

also less stress on the string at those points as the string is not forced into sharp 90degree turn. idea is similar to the muscle power design, but turned sideways.

Softening the impact of the shuttle on the string bed to improve touch and feel has traditionally been delivered through the softening of the grommets at 3 and 9 o'clock whcih does make an obvious improvement to control and racket feedback.

The revoltionary grommetless construction at 3 and 9 o'clock ensures direct contact between the cross strings and the racket frame giving much higher levels of control and feedback. There is also the ability to increase the string tension on the cross strings increasing control further. In my opinion this frame profile is a huge jump forward in racket technology going against the grain of a number of manufacturers in churning out the same frames on different cosmetics year after year. The Prototype V1.0 definately feels different.......

So, why not put this 'stuff' on the top and bottom of the frame? (12 and 6 'O clock)?

    It looks pretty awesome :)

Well, that reads like a press release and that photo sure isn't a sneaky camera phone shot.

If you work for Carlton or it's affiliates, it might be a good idea to tell everyone who butters your toast so we aren't deceived to think you're unbiased.

Just a common courtesy, you know.

    Woo!!

wow nice design too, I think yonex are the best rackets out there but they neet to do something with their designers it's like the designers live in the past :p but I don't know if this is going to be a super wanted racket or so just because it isn't yonex altho carlton is a good brand too, but if yonex comes out with something like this I know for sure that everyone wants it..
It's just the idea of the ppl that yonex is the best.. IMO

The graphics on the ZS are by far the most modern, so in that way they're not living in the past, but they are a conservative company. The modern Yonexes are just a gradual improvement in materials over the Ti10. I don't see that changing, but in reality, they should what BMW did over the past few years and just go real edgy.

I'm hoping the price of RMB6000/USD878/SDG1250 is a misprint.

I dont know how the racket will cope with high tension stringing. Interesting indeed.

its prolly like the BlackKnight Superlight series, not really intended for high tension.

I believe that this racket will produce alot of vibration.
