I use Yonex Super Grap, and whenever I ask people from my area about my grip, they tell me white super grap lasts longer than others. Is this true? Anyone wanna verify it with me?

It's not true, unless you also believe the theory that a red car runs faster than a white car.

some truth. the dyes used seem to really affect the grip in some cases. for instance, Wilson x-tra tack truly varies by color. super grap does too, but not as much. its whwat you are more comfortable with.

I use black so because when it gets dirty, its not as noticeable.

Yonex Supergrap while nice and tacky will not last very long. I like to use grey color because it's not really noticeable when it is dirty unlike white.

it is the absolute opposite for me. after 1 or 2 days of play the grip looks fine right? but if you compare the original color to the one you have on your grip right now then theres a BIG difference. imo i think black would be the "longest lasting" because when it gets dirty you cant see much of a difference

I use white... so that I know when it's dirty and time to change it...

Also, longest lasting has nothing whatsoever to do with whether you can see it being dirty. Whether black, white, grey or any other color, they will be equally dirty if played with an equal amount of time....

The darker colors, as many here have chosen, will cover up the fact that the grip is dirty and if that makes you happy so that you can play with it longer then by all means....

I think the misconception may come from the fact that because a darker grip tends to conceal the dirt, you just naturally use it longer. I think jymbalaya has a point about the different dyes that are used (so the analogy to colored racing cars is not quite the same), but I don't think it is a noticeable difference.

I prefer white grips because they look better, and I usually replace the grips before they get too dirty because they have lost their tackiness by that point anyway. Also maybe some people don't feel justified changing a darker grip that looks new but actually isn't. As far as I'm concerned, I've never seen a white grip worn down to the fiber, but I've seen plenty of black grips that have been worn down to where you can see the grey fiber underneath.

Many of the "older" guys from the club where i play usually have a grip that have been torn until you can see the fiber and the "younger" guys usually change their grip quite often. Not all people are the same, but it is just from my experience. For myself, I can't play with a grip that is worn down or even tear apart. I usually change my grip every 2-3 weeks and I play 2 times a week. Also, if you are a hard hitter or aggressive type of player, usually the grip will worn down faster.

OK, there comes the un-official answer.
Yes, color does effect the feeling and durability. Example, 3 years ago, Evil Empire almost had a recall on all red SuperGrap 30pack because the red one will die within 1 week of use. Un-officially, the lighter colors beat out the darker color. After formula change (last year), the difference is not noticeable anymore.

nope, it actually doesn't smell :p

usually, i'll replace the grip i feel that its been worn down and feel that its affecting my shots. by then, it wouldn't matter if its dirty anyways.

So as of right now, there is no recognizable difference, of performance?

All I can tell you is that I have been using the white SuperGrap exclusively because I get them cheap. I have not hear any one use the red or darker color SuperGrap complain to me after the initial introduction. And yes, there was a change in the color formula Evil Empire used in the SuperGrap.

In general in terms of both plastics and rubbers, all additives will have an effect on the material properties. Dies used are different depending on the color and will have different effects on performance so I would not be surprised to see variations on how they feel and how long they last but with the right formulations these should be minimal.

The wine red grap feels a bit more smooth and less tacky. i use yonex white towel grip; it never gets dirty cuz i dont have a deadly grip when playing
