We wanted to let everyone know that, YES, the rumors are true! Bintang Badminton is opening up a fourth gym and the lucky city is South San Francisco! This will be a 29 court facility with our trademark wooden suspension flooring and court mats and professional lighting. We are committed to making this Bintang's best yet facility! This will hopefully be second-home for the many diehard badminton fans out there as well as home of future Nor Cal badminton Olympians. We hope to bring badminton in the US to the next level with such a facility and we look forward to having all of you visit once it opens. The target opening month is June 2010. Stay tuned for updates!
29 COURTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!?!?!?!?!? that's incredible. looking forward to seeing it. this will be one of the largest badminton facility in the Western hemisphere. congrats to Phu and Stella.
Wow, that will be very close to the new Bay Badminton courts! Anybody knows how much annual membership at Bintang? It is not listed on its site.
Very awesome news! I will be sure to get in shape and hopefully injury free to make it to the grand opening.
Very cool!!.. ..29 courts?!?! that's almost equivalent to 2 baddy clubs..it shows that baddy is really growing in the NorCal area!...Now, if only you guys could host the U.S. Open up in the NorCal area....hmmmm..
Hi ctjcad! Hosting the US Open would surely be a great honor. But OCBC has been doing a wonderful job of it and being that they were the pioneer of badminton in the US (i.e. they were the first fully dedicated badminton gym in all of US), we feel they are most suited for and most deserving of hosting it. There could always be other tournaments that we can host up here, so don't worry! There will be no lack of action here.
I dunno about that. He's a coach who used to live in Bay area and then moved down to LA. I guess he knows the local scene pretty well.
yeah .... just a few minutes away from BBC2. i agree .... knowing the annual membership would really help us decide which club to join. it would make sense to join a bigger gym which would hopefully translate to less waiting time. i can't wait to see the gym .... and it would have the same nice bouncy floors as the sunnyvale gym ....
I would guess that they're trying to serve the needs of the Bay Area badminton enthusiasts by opening gyms in areas where there aren't many gyms nearby.
